So, it looks like from the code G282, that my gears are 4.30, which is common with automatic transmission. Would it make the manual transmission run different?

Running 31 11.50 15's

Thanks..............Bill

What I have read, it shouldnt be an issue. Seems lie the ones that have done the same thing were happy with the results.

Yeah I think when youre running 31's you'll be thankful for the extra push. Plus it will make your speedometer and odometer closer to being correct. I have 4.56's from a 93 and it is just about spot on with my 31's.

Your making good progress! What kind of bedliner did you use? When I got my runner the first thing I did was paint the top, (it was the "faded pink" instead of red ,lol) I used Rustoleum satin black (in the can) and rolled it on. It turned out pretty good, but if it starts looking bad, I was thinking of using a roll on bedliner.

Then I came in from inside the fender with fiberglass mat +epoxy. The final skin coat is Rage filler. The Bondo with fiberglass would probably work well too. You can get fiberglass mat (not the cloth) at Walmart for a small section. Try to keep the Rage or regular Bondo thinner than a dime.
There should be a tutorial thread for that! I know I could have used it when I did rust repair.

I'm interested to see what you end up doing with the rust, it's a solid looking truck otherwise!

The PO actually took good care of it. If it wasnt for the rust, you would have it easy. Top is looking good. Where Inclometer sets, what is that on yours, just above the double vents?

Zelephant..I havent looked for rust repair but on I am finding alot of things on Youtube, that is turning into a wealth of information.

Hey, Terry, I did not have a inclometer on the 89, what you are seeing is part of the center consle that I placed on the dash and the ECT box.
May add a iclometer...later..

Each step is one step closer to being done. Just keep at it and it will eventually happen.

Nice dude. I see why you were telling me about the condition of my truck and it being rustfree for the most part. Lol mine looks pretty good as far as rust goes when compared to yours.

I, however, had the same problem with the camper window. My window was broken so i had to go to a junk yard to find a replacent. and i happened to find one(lucky me) but the whole "L" piece was rusted, so i threw that piece and re used the one that was origionally on my truck which didnt have any rust. But the main piece that holds the 2 small windows on the corner with the little tip had some pretty bad rust. Not as bad as yours but still had some.

I just took some sand paper to it and rubbed like crazy till i seen fresh metal. I re-repainted it and so far it looks ok.

My biggest problem with my 4runner is that the previous owner used some really cheap paint and to top it off did a crappy paint job on the camper so that is definitely something i wanna work on and make look a bit more "clean-cut." But dude you're getting there man. Nice runner. i agree with the rest of the guys here. the runner is in very good shape with rust aside. Good Job

Thanks Redeth005, your 4runner looks great on the outside and the inside needs work, mine it's the other way around, best of luck and keep us posted.

I paint my camper top with bed liner, looks good and hopefully holds up.....Bill

Good looking project, my 86 had a lot of rust as well its a slow process to fix but it can be done. I have use spray on bed liner for a lot of things my only issue is its hard to clean once dirty but I used it on my sliders, rear bumper etc its holding up well otherwise. Keep up the good work I look forward to it coming together for ya.
