Terry, thanks, you are right, my VW TDI gets 47 mpg and has 320,000 miles. I love the fuel mileage. My son got a 08 Rabbit gas and a 87 Golf. But when the weather get bad he wants a 4x4, he is working on a 89 or so Chevy Blazer 4x4, but it's far from complete.

Around here the weather is crazy, we got 40-50's then 27 last night, well so far no snow

be safe.........

Just curious if your weekend worked out like you had hoped. Just getting things swapped over can take a weekend. Hope all is going well.

Well with a break in the weather, running at 62 Friday and being off from work. (that's always great) I broke down and did some work. First the VW TDI needed front brakes (pads and rotors) got that done then pull the 22R out the Toy. making room for the 4.3 V6. Note: the 22R is for sale with or without 5 speed manual and transfer case (1985). oh it runs. PM me.

I see your core support has been cut. Is there clearance requirements for a 4.3? My 86 has the core removed and it does make it so much easier to work on a motor. I was orginally going to have mine welded back in but the guy I bought mine from and used the front end off of it just has his bolted and has been working great for 5 years.

The old motor looks clean, look like no major leaks or any at all.

Terry, if it was a 22RE I would have kept it in the truck, but that's when i want more power so the 4.3 was the answer. The Toyota is high so the cut does make it easy, got the idea from this site. It also making the engine, transmission and t-case one piece removal.

The 22R was from the 85 pickup as it was the replacement for the 22R that was blown. Then I got the idea for the 4.3 swap.

Liking the build.
I like the anti-tailgater idea with the frame...my old Ford had a couple of Mad Max style spikes off the rear bumper that were hollowed out. I always had the idea of running a small spray nozzle to the end that was hooked to a pump and reservoir of oil/sand mixture that would give a small bath to the the windshield. ya know, nothing mean. Just annoying and such...?....!...

The engine bay looks clean. Keeping the shop cleaned and organized is a job in itself.

Terry, you are right, I got a 40 X 32 with a 15 1/2 feet ceiling and it's job keep up with it. But it's a great work space, got 3 vehicles inside right now (87 Golf, 89 Blazer & my TOY) and still have two bays for work on other vehicles if need.

I wanted one that size. Would be nice to have one to work on a daily driver if need be. One reason I made a contraption for pushing my trucks in and out of the shop.

Nervo sent me a site for garages for differnt ideas on setting up a garage. It is www.garagejournal.com ,some I would be proud to live in.lol

That is a big shop. The height and extra doors I am sure come in handy. Having the extra bays for working on daily drivers would be a big plus. Getting one setup the way you want and stocked with tools is an on going project in itself. Dont know if that ever ends.

I love your build man!

Planning ahead is one thing my parents did not do with our house... We moved into a neighborhood when i was 8. Back then my dad only had an s10 work truck and my moms van. They didn't think that 10 years later we could have my moms van, dads diesel truck, my truck, my little brothers truck, a trail truck, and now two trailers with only a 2 car garage...

haha and it really gets nuts on a night like tonight when we bring the car trailer home to get ready to go wheeling the next day and a bunch of my buddies are over... my neighbors don't like us very much... ohwell.

Guess you are still working on your suntan. Just thought I would check in and see how things are going. Enjoy Florida. Bet the weather is great there.
