Ahhhhhhhh, ...dang you and your SICK 1UZ Second Gen, Shaggy! lol... Especially while I'm dealing with these stupid OBD1 mysteries/Smog issues, lol. Course, I wouldn't mind having RB's project running, either... But alas, it's more of my DD than anything right now, so I guess I'll just live vicariously through you guys! lol.

I hear ya, RB.... best wishes on the 'patience' game!

Removed the leaky freeze plug. Poking a it with a flat head sprung a leak immediately, I was running on borrowed time, yikes!
Used a pry bar and she popped out, after swearing at it

650$ doesn't seem bad, but you will need wireharness and ecu for a JDM engine(good luck) or you may be able to megasquirt it. It is also a I-6cyl....long.

Heads and exhaust manifold are on. Hopefully tonight ill have the intake on. Once i get this boring maintenance done i can move onto funner mods(yes i said funner). Actually just finish up my OBA and tire carrier (hitch reinforcement) mod. I'll also be mounting my CB antenna to the tire carrier, and maybe(just maybe) i'll be able to build my JerryCan mount for the swing out. I have a custom hi-lift mount installed on the swing out already.

Maintenance is Boring, that is the tip of the day!

This one puts out 900hp. They took the V8 out of the Lexus SC430 in favor of the highly tuneable 2JZ-GTE. Stock the 2JZ-GTE is reported from the manufacturer with 276hp...many think this figure is not acurrate, but an agreed HP for Japanese auto industry HP cap.

But fuel eco is a primary concern of mine, or i would have started this swap a while ago.

The other photos have the air cleaner attached. But 'what' is covering the intake? looks to me like the bottom of a catch can or similar.

Finished assembly of the 3vze this afternoon. Cranked it, and it won't start. I have fuel and spark. I think the afm that is faulty may have died. I am also getting code 51. But I haven't been able to get it to even sputter. Just crank.

Update from a holiday weekend:
Timing was out , I was aligning the wrong mark on the crank pulley due to the many nicks and chips on it. That has been resolved.
However, upon setting my timing there seems to be an issue. A start and idle are tip-top....give her some gas and she makes a new noise like a cylinder is not firing. I know i need a new VAFM which i have read may cause the same issue, but i am thinking it may be an injector clogged because it sounds like it is coming from the passenger bank of cylinders.
Any ideas before i pull the plenum, and start testing?

Oh, and i reinforced my hitch for towing and added my CB antenna, just need to wire up the connector in the cab.

I did all the above over the weekend in between renovating our dojo, going to my son's concert in Frederick and a holiday cookout yesterday.....i love it when a plan comes together.

did you try any of the injector cleaner stuff in the tank? i'm not familiar with the 3.0, but can you get a stethoscope (or piece of tube, etc) to the injectors?

those are my only suggestions. glad you finally got that thing running again
