I need to do some research on putting a w56 from the 4-banger into the 3slo.
Anyone know off hand if I need a different bell housing and fly wheel?

Thanks, it's nice to run out on a cold morning, hit the ignition and hear her idle without stumbling.
After driving a bit, my next mod needs to be brakes. I think they need bled but discs are going on the rear once I figure out which type to use. I'm thinking Supras.

OK new path...
Disc brake conversion is getting started...ordering brackets, rotors and calipers.
Hard lines are Double Flare 3/16" line, 10mm end

I really want this engine to last another year or so, but every time i start it up i get a puff of oil smoke. It doesn't stink when running just when it has been sitting for a few hours, I'm guessing the head gasket is seeping...anyone think otherwise?
So this makes me think the engine won't last as long as I'd like.
Enter the 1UZF-e swap....
Sooner then I'd like, so i will be collecting parts and researching, hopefully start the swap mid summer.
Parts list(to be updated):
engine: 1UZF-e....check
trans: R150f...
Trans Adapter: TBD...
ECU: Crown(hard to find) or Standalone....
Exhaust: 2001 Tundra Manifolds OR custom if room allows...
Radiator: 3 Core LARGE brass w/electric fan....check
Body Lift: 2" 4Crawler....
Fuel Pump: TBD....
Motor Mounts: TBF...


I want to go to a manual transmission, which is why i am looking for a Crown ECU, it uses an A/T piggyback like the 3VZ. Simply unplug the piggyback and run a manual tranny(well that's what i read anyhow).
The 1UZ will get a complete overhaul before installation.

Any ideas, or suggestions? I have been researching everything 1UZ i can find.

Well if you want the engine to last a year you could just do a head gasket replacement. While you've got everything off you could do the timing chain too. That way you've got an engine that you're not going to worry about and your not rushed with the swap. Better to take your time and not be in a hurry. Just my 2 cents. Good luck wither way. JBurt...you're right about taking my time...but i have two other vehicles to use, i just happen to really like driving her. So if she needs to sit while i acquire parts and knowledge then so be it. The Timing belt does need to be changed, and i may do that, and the valves need adjusting/shimming. I'll probably do the timing belt, and skip the rest.This is the 3point-slo, so it's just a timing cover.

I plan on using Supra Rear Calipers from the 79-81 vintage, but i could probably use Integra's as well since they also have a mechanical e-brake attached that pulls perpendicular to the rotor. I really like the drive-train e-brake, but i am afraid this may complicate my engine swap if the tranny moves.
However, no one makes a Supra Disc Conversion bracket but FROR on their full floater. This is ultimately the direction i will go with the rear axle. Unfortunately you cannot buy just the brackets for the caliper, you must purchase the entire kit...$789! With that said, i am going to make my own brackets. honestly, i'd rather buy brackets to save me some time.
E-Brake/Parking Brake on the caliper is a requirement for this build.

sounds good I wanna see a break down of what you use, I have been thinking about using my old SA front brakes in the rear with a bracket from Davez Offroad

Do they have the two extra holes for mounting to the hub?
what is the year of the axle?
and finally what is the rotor thickness?

if you can get me that info i would really appreciate it.

Yes solid rotors
Holes to mount to hope.. you lost me
84-85 axles possibly earlier i saw a set on craigs list for $50 the other day
Stock rotors I think they are .495 Nominal

there are two extra smaller holes in line with the lugs. I don't really know if these holes are important or not...yet.
I've been searching for an SA for months around here, and no results.

I would say not important..

since the Rotor is held on by 6 wheel studs, and other guys are running them with no issues.

Today went junkyarden.
Picked up newish grey trim for my beat up door panels.
A new speedo cluster for the tranny swap, a/t to m/t.

85 Subaru Loyale calipers. I'll follow up with some pics, and a write up on my rear disc conversion.

Installed 93 t100 mc and flushed all break lines. Much better pedal feel.

my other MC must have been bad. I bled all the breaks and nothing changed, so i picked up the 4wd 93' T100 MC. Not sure if it is the larger 1-1/6" size, besides i am just running stock V6 breaks, so i do not really need a larger MC as of now....but... the Subaru front calipers i got are pretty big, so we shall see if this master cylinder will do the trick.
