^^^ exactly. If it doesn't serve a purpose, it stays home.
Actually I have to do the timing belt soon, and when I was cleaning up the engine(read=clearing codes) I didnt put it back on since I need it off in a week or two.

Thanks guys
Ian, I noticed that the chrome trim actual wears the paint away on the edges overtime. I believe the hard plastic edges are harder then the clearcoat, add a bit of vibration over a few hundred thousand miles... Just keep an eye on it.

I actually like the black rubbery stuff on the windshield. looking good man.
my son has the chrome (minus 3 pieces.....which I just got delivered from someone parting out a 4runner) and it's very worn looking. not sure what we will do there...but that's kinda low on our list. for now we will be piecing it back together.

Yeah, i have a DLX with the black frame, that is turning chrome....go figure, DLX = Cheaper...SR5 had the Chrome trim.
I think i need to start parting out my second 4Runner. Hopefully the snow will melt enough i can get some pics and catalog what i have.
Personally i like the clean look of the black gasket.

Went to the Pick and pull, and found a first gen runner..SR5 gray interior with rear head rests. Pulled all the seats out. They are dirty but in excellent condition for 22yrs old!
One more step to removing the awful red/maroon.
They need a good steaming, ill post up some pics of before and after.
Oh, and as a bonus i got the rear carpet(attached to the rear seat.
Total cost...$107...$30 x2 for the front, and $40 for the rear.
Best of all, my wife MADE me go get them before someone else did.

Ian, i think you may be on to something
It's rare around here also.
There was a thread around here that showed or talked about how to swap the seat rails out so the passenger seat would still function using the 2nd Gen seats(this is what i was going to do)

It was cheap compared to a new can-back, and Brian's top doesn't count because his is tan, and black is 325$ more!!
And yes the family is awesome, they just want to be involved and use it. It took about 40 minutes to tear it down so i could put it in the truck, but now its done, and ready to be cleaned.....come on warm weather!!

$400 is a good snag for that Can-Back.
