i ended up doing a couple of plugs on my 22re DD while in the truck .. alot easier than the 3.0 i know . I just whacked the hell out of the plugs with a home made chisel ,once they were unmounted i pulled them out with some needle nose pliers .. the slide hammer would probably be a good thing to use .
I then made a small tool to help me install them so that they sit right where i wanted them , just a little deeper than the original ones but not have them go all the way in , i did use some permatex shellac compound on them.
heres some pics of the tool .. suuuper ugly but it worked great i just put the plug on the end and whacked it until the metal flange was flush with the block, worked as planned
ohh and i used a long metal concrete breaker bar to whack them in ..

WOOT! Where else but Yotatech can you get a full page+ regarding the 'IN VEHICLE CHANGE OF A FREEZE PLUG'??? hahaha. And all without any "Stupid newb" or "Freakin knob" even once!
lol.
Sorry........ I was just over on another well known 4X4 site, looking for parts..... and even that was cumbersome! lol.
Seriously, hope it goes without incident, bud!

Well after trying to figure out where i am going to cram an air tank for the OBA, i think the easier route is going to be using the rear bumper. I calculated approx 2.5gallons.
No Pics, That is all. I'll update some pics and progress this weekend.

Oops, sorry, lol.
So, could you stop by my thread, bud? I picked up an S10 rack, but I'm not sure I thought it out,....it's a 4door one.....is that wrong? Did you cut it to fit? Let me know over there, please?

Blazer Rack Install
OK Chef and anyone else that needs some info about the blazer rack install, and yes i got mine from a 4-door.
Back

front

Rear interior, i should have moved the mount inward or rearward a bit because i am staddling the seem and the fiberglass is different thickness in that spot

Front interior i need to trim the excess bolts down

I used RTV in and around the holes in the cap, all stainless hardware(aluminum plates inside) and some small brass sleeves i had laying around to use on the bolts so the fiberglass didn't deform when tightening them. Also, DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN, use good judgement (or someone elses if you lack 'good judgement') when 'snugging the bolts, this will keep you from fubarring the plastic ends of the rack.
good luck

I'll just post this both on mine and yours..........
"Thanks, RB! I read that/saw the pics, and I VERY MUCH appreciate you taking the extra time on what you did. Still curious....
1. So you cut the side to side supports and front to back as well, right? Makes sense.... Did you use a sawzawl or hack saw(to be more careful?).
2. Did you drill through, carefully, then squirt RTV down into the threads and up top, under the stock-S10 rubber cushions that it came with?(I got those rubber bushings that go under the plastic pieces, too).
3. I'm still kind of unsure how you mounted it to the rack(your cage)????
I will look back through your pics, but all I have is the Con-Ferr rain gutter mounts, ...and I don't like those for this rig, at all, because 2 go on the front and 2 go on the rear(fiberglass).... So that's out, and obviously, with this rack on, I will need/want to mount the cage to the actual rail..... which leads to question 4......
4. I should ditch the 3rd side to side rail that I threw in there, extra, from the yard, right?
THANKS, so much, and take your time, if you even want to explain further, bud!
GREATLY appreciated!"

I'm just realizing(I think I'm right) that you've not mounted the cage on that rack just yet, right? that's something that I am really curious about, considering the rack's side to sides are arched. Forgive my ignorance, I'm learning, hahaha.
I also wanted to add;
I would bet, that since you've shortened the side to side and rear to rear rails, the thing MUST have more 'load capacity' at this point, no? Seems to me, by the laws of physics, it HAS TO, ......right?
lol.

With my metal chop saw actually, but i'd just use something that would be easy keep a straight line. You arent building the space shuttle here, just take a file and knock down the burs when you are finished, if you are off an 1/8" you will porobably never notice.
2. Did you drill through, carefully, then squirt RTV down into the threads and up top, under the stock-S10 rubber cushions that it came with?(I got those rubber bushings that go under the plastic pieces, too).
I try to be as thorough and neat as i can with permatex 'right stuff'. i have see some ice and snow and tons of rain this year and no leaks. Keep in mind water will move in every direction when you are driving. I only put rtv/permatex around the holes and bolts, and not under the rack end rubber pieces. I also used all stainless hardware so corrosion will not contaminate the rack to roof seal.
3. I'm still kind of unsure how you mounted it to the rack(your cage)????
I haven't attached it yet, but the sunco basket center supports are pretty flexible. I figure on drilling holes thru the crossbars and just nut and bolt them to the basket, but on the Can-Back i used stainless u-bolts.

Depends on how flimsy the bottom of the basket is. My sunco is pretty flexy, and so i am going to add another rail eventually

GREATLY appreciated!"the 200lbs rating probably hasn't changed, i'd be more worried about fiberglass fatigue.
Hope that helps, pm me and i will send you my digits, way easier.
cheers

AWESOME! And don't worry about doing all this on my thread...... I'll paste it there, k? After all, I'll have my own write up and specs on my thread, as I go.... so again, THANKS, BUDDY!
I have 'The Right Stuff', GREAT stuff, indeed!
I have plenty of stainless hardware that will work(but did you drill out the mounting holes a lil bigger? Or just use the same size thread/with a different top/head?) I'm going to use Star Key bolts, just to reduce the risk of 'theft!' grrrrrrrr, freakin thieves in L.A., RB! lol.
I want to lock the Cage to the rack, too... While still making it easily removable(easily enough, anyhow, lol). Gotta figure that out...and I WILL! lol. The Con-Ferr cage I have, ....HOLY CRAPLULA, RB, it's solid as a rock, 5 cross bars, etc., .... so I'm not sure how that'll work considering the cross bars of the S10 rack being rounded and the bottom/supports of the con-ferr being flat as a board....(but with plenty of holes for attaching). I was thinking of maybe setting the con-ferr inbetween the cross bars of the S10- rack.... You know, with Yakima type fasteners on the front and rear of the con-ferr to attach to the S10 cross rails......... make any sense at all? lol.
I will be running capped wires up to the hole where my CB antenna was, ..and I'll seal that all up with an arched strip/capped on the ends with WP Caps and heat shrink for when I want to wire up lights to the basket/cage.
Should be a bit of a challenge.... I'm serious, you're FAR better at 'FAB-ARTS' than myself, RB..... Actually, I'm creative and 'persevering' , ........ but still, hahaha.
Cheers backatcha, bud.... thanks again!
