Was starting to wonder what happened to you.

Dual batts look like such a pill to wire, but the finished product is sure impressive! What's the deal with the compressor? Is it hooked up to an air tank? Is it big enough to run air tools, or just inflate tires?

That box is sweet. I have been thinking about doing one out of aluminum since I put the tire carrier on. But doing mine for holding all my gear. I gonna put an air locker in or just use it to run tools and air tires.

Thanks guys
The box is about 28"x21"x10"
The compressor isn't hooked to the tank outside the box yet, I need to move my exhaust first a few inches.
Everyone that stores gear in this box idea says its a pain to retrieve gear cuz theres usually other stuff on top. Just sayin. This is why I chose to put stuff in the box I don't need access to regularly and free up other needed space.

thanks
On my way to work this morning i was turning the compressor on and off to hear how loud it was inside the truck. The racket isn't as loud as i thought, very deep rumble, not bad if you are coming back from the trail and want to pressurize the tank so you can immediately air back up.

Battery size doesn't matter, what matters is keeping them separate when they are not charging. This is just a spare battery i had, i will eventually upgrade it to a deep cycle, and continue to isolate circuits i want to run off the aux battery, so that my starter battery is never at risk of draining.

Currently my auxiliary battery is supplying power for:
On Board Air
400watt Inverter
Stereo amp

Future :
All courtesy/dome lighting
Radio, CB
12v accesory plugs
winch
lockers(activate relays)
windows

I still need to some circuit breakers in..on order.

I have so many things I need to do first, before I go tearing a pumpkin open. Next will be top end rebuild for the tired 3vze, so new head gaskets, fresh heads, e-brake fab(finish), rear suspension and repair the freeze plug leak.

So there's a top end rebuild before the diesel swap?

Good work on the batteries and box by the way. Makes me want a spare on a swing out.

^^^ unfortunately yes. I still need to nail down an importer to get a 1KD-ftv halfcut, and i'm still not 100% sure this is the deisel to go with because of our grade of deisel and injector issues.
So this engine will be in her a bit longer. I can hear a valve tap, and it is most annoying, so i found some heads online that had recently been freshened up, and fuigured since i have to pull the cam to do the valve shims, maybe i should just do the head gaskets and other stuff so i know the condition of the gaskets for future piece of mind during trips.

What happened to the VW TDI idea? Too ambitious?

Well on the bright side when you do the swap your 3vze will be worth a little more so you can sell it.

JBurt, True dat, i actually have a buyer already

Zel, the VW TDI isn't completely out of the question yet but here is my rationale:
The Toyota common rail direct injection 1KD-FTV diesel engine puts out 165hp & 260ftlbs of torque, utilizing a stock turbo and inter-cooler. the 3VZ-E has 150hp & 180ftlbs. Foreign markets have access to the 1kd-ftv since it started production in 2000 when they first being fitted into Prados, and can be found in Land Cruisers, vigos/hilux. All of these vehicles weigh a few hundred pounds more then my truck(stock).
A VW TDI is a car engine, which translates to a shorter stroke, rather then a proper truck engine that has a longer stroke, longer stroke equals more torque, more torque makes a great truck engine. Don't get me wrong, if the newer generation VW engines weren't so expensive(used) i'd be dropping one in my rig sooner then later.
However, i have yet to read any VW tdi swap into a yota that flat out says 'this is a way better engine then my old...'. If you can find one, let me know, but i can assure you i have scoured the interwebs.
There are plenty of vw swaps, and lots of guys say its a great little engine, really fun in a toyota, but i haven't seen/heard anyone running a vw mill in a yota fully loaded heading for some expedition adventure. I'm not saying no one has done this, i just haven't read about it.
The avalability of the vw is attractive, but a half-cut prado/landcruiser imported should be about the same price.
Also, i only want to do this swap once, and don't want to regret putting in a 100hp vw tdi that needs tweaking to get the heart rate going, when i could have a proper greaser from Toyota that already powers bigger heavier vehicles, and maintain the reliability.
