Any body have any input as far a what I could look fore that could point me in the right direction? I would hate to spend $300 for a new rocker set up. Was thinking of maybe starting with the rocker adjuster tips first? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You are supposed to adjust them at 8 and 12 with the engine warm. By the time you get the cover off and everything else it is cool. Sme go with 7 and 11 and it seems to help. I have a mechanics stethoscope that I use to listen to which valves might be an issue when letting the motor warm up and get an idea of which ones might need a little more attention to when under the hood.

Has some one adjusted them so tight that they have worn the pads of the rockers into the camshaft? I have seen that before.

Gone this far...

I ordered new rocker adjusters so hopefully that solves the problem. I decided since I couldn't run my 4runner that I would try and find the connections for the injectors that I think is causing my random miss. Thanks to Terrys87 for the insight. Here are the two connections. Both look pretty corroded. What do you guys think? Gonna solder them regardless. Just wondering if this could cause my issue? Pics won't load so you'll just have to imagine two corroded connections.

Thanks

Some slight concern.

Ok so my new rocker arm adjusters came in late today and I took a few minutes to compare them to my old ones. I don't see a whole lot of difference...bummer. Hope I didn't waste my money. Any case I'll be installing them tomorrow. Hoping that solves one of my problems. On a positive note I checked my rear drums and they look fairly new. Scratch that job off the list. So then i decided to install my map light mod. Only ran into two issues. 1. Blew a fuse. Thought I blew everything. Lol. 2. My map light bracket was not grounding so I had to sand a little and that did the job. Got a little cleaning and massaging to do before I think it's perfect but I love it. Killer mod. Pics to follow one day.

On the 85-87 injector connectors I usually replace them as they are broken from previous owner not knowing how to get them loose. The crimps also cause problems. If you are wondering about your injectors firing, you can try this >>> https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...t-22re-270857/

I have gotten good at replacing fuses, anytime I mess with electrical, I blow one somehow. I also like to take a standard cab truck light and add it with the maplights. It will add alot more light.

I checked the crimps and they looked good. Had my engineer look at it and he agreed they looked good also. I have replaced two of the injectors plugs already and the other two are not broken. Been working on my runner this morning and got my inclinometer installed but still need to make a bracket for it. I decided to check my rocker arm bar? Oiler bar? Any case found some pretty good wear on the rocker I thought I was having trouble with. Bottom line is I'm ordering a new rocker arm assembly. Down side is I leave Sunday for work for 22 days. So I'm just going to button her up and revisit my problems when I get back. As far as pics go I can't post any more till I get my post count up. Thanks for all the advice so far.

You can post pics. Post count doesnt apply to that. I have forgotten what the post count is that limits things but you are at 30 and I think it is less then that.

Finally home albeit for a couple days.

Well I'm home and don't have a whole lot of motivation. I guess working 22 days straight will do that to you. Any how I did get enough motivation to do a no cut zuk mod. Pretty stoked how it came out! Also received my new rocker arm assembly from 22RE Performance but gonna install it after my next trip.

Power windows

Does any body have any links or info regarding how easy or difficult it would be to install power windows on my 4Runner? Know some body that wants manual crank windows that has power. Thinking of swapping with him? Is it possible for that to work for both of us?

I am fairly sure that if your truck did not come with power windows, that you will not have the wiring in the main harness to do it like the factory did. You will just need to provide its own source of power such as tapping into the correct wiring to provide power as you would want it, such as Key On and Key Off power.

I am all most positive all of the bolt holes for the power window is already cut into the door. You will just need to get the little tabs that pop into them for the mounting screws.

Great info...

Thanks for the info on power windows! I guess that will have to be down the road. Witch is ok because it's been in the 90's here and has turned my attention to my a/c. Wich will also be dealt with at some point. For now I got my new rocker assembly installed and ran the truck for a few with a ruff timing. Gonna adjust the valves one more time and set the timing and pray she's good to go.

Another bump in the road...

Well before I adjusted my valves I wanted to time my truck as I haven't don't it correctly thus yet (ie jumper wire). So put in the jumper wire turned the key and that dreaded check engine light started flashing! Haha...long story short my TPS is bad. I leave Friday again for the final time for a week and want to atleast take this thing for a spin down the beach (maybe a 5 mile trip total?). Would it be detrimental to the engine? Or is it just horrible gas miliage? I do have a new one on the way.

TPS is installed and took her for a spin. Does pretty good. Still have a few bugs to iron out but super happy. Next on the list is AC. It has been 90+ here and I need AC. Anyone ever try this kit? Interdynamics (323) 3 Can High Mileage Retrofit Kit - 11 oz., (Pack of 3)

How did you do with the TPS? It was a pain in the neck for me. Getting it set is the trouble.
