Can anyone help me find out, on how to check if a certain shock is good enough for a 2 inch lift?

I don't just want to buy any shock and find it out that it won't extend long enough for my lift, that would be a serious fail on my part lol

I've got Bilstein 4600 shocks on mine but I think the old man emu shocks are a better product. I would recommend them if I were you. You have to scroll down a little on this page to the 2nd gen section.

does the shock extend as much as the spring does? I want to make sure the shock doesn't hold back the length of the spring.

Here are two links I used when i was trying to figure out my options for a 1.5inch lift.

FYI: I got the ARB/EMU shocks and they are great!

I plan on getting an alignment so I called the alignment shop.

They said that they can only align the fronts and not the rear, is this true?

If you need an 'alignment' for the rear end, you have some major problems. So, in a sense he is right, it's not typical work.

I ended up with shocks that were a little short, but that was my fault for not measuring before I ordered. Do you know how to measure shock lengths?

This is the best information I was bale to gather.

Stock rear shock lengths
Stock is 13.0" and 20.75"

Front IFS stock shocks
Stock is 9.375" and 13.375"

These are the shocks I ended up getting which, according to my research, are actually for a 2-inch lift, but the dimensions worked for my 1.5-inch lift.
OME shocks for 2 inch lift
OME 60072 Front sport shocks (383mm 254mm) (10" to 15")
OME 60073 Rear sport shocks (549mm 334mm) ( 13.1" to 21.6)

Great shocks!

Yah sure. Also, make sure you dont pay more than $110 each, + shipping. Some places ship for free. I think Northridge 4x4 in arizona had that offer. But i found them locally on SoCal

Ohh man thanks for letting me know I'll need to look around. The only place I see them forsale is on their site and its 107.35 plus shipping.

Oh and I just plan on running a 2inch coil spacer in the rear, and bj spacer up front!

Hey everyone!

It's been awhile since I updated this build thread. I unfortunately don't have the lift kit yet for my car, and I may possibly not get it anymore.

I have decided to stop throwing money into the car. I love my rig to death but I believe it isn't worth putting more money into it because I ultimately don't want to keep the car forever. So I believe I should just save my money for the rig that I truly want which is either a fj cruiser or a newer 4thgen or up 4runner!

I also believe that for the type of off roading I do, my rig is totally capable of doing anything that I want at it's current height. I have yet to encounter anything that my buddies with lifted jeeps do that I can't do.

The truck currently runs great! I do need to do more maintenance stuff which I will definitely be doing. I need to buy some new valve covers since mine are leaking and I just bought those caps on the back of the cylinder head since there is some oil leaking from there to.

I've done a couple of off road trips since my last post so i'll post up some pictures to those adventures.

My buddy and I decided to do the rincon trail up in azusa mountain. It is basically a fire road so it was very easy. We practically just raced through it. Here are a couple of shots we took!

Another trip we did was in the backroads of riverside right off the 60freeway. This is our normal off road spot, we come here almost every other week!

There was a pretty cool sunset coming down so I decided to take a picture. It also shows the type of terrain we were going over.

My buddies actually decided to do gold mountain today in big bear. I was supposed to go with them but I decided to go out and get a couple of drinks last night and I ended up not waking up this morning for the trip lol.

Well thats whats new with me and truck! Hopefully I can get that oil leak to stop soon!
