Hey man thanks alot... That's the first vehicle I've ever painted. I didn't no anything about paint until Monday. I read alot of info prior to painting my truck. That paint I used is Napa's CrossFire acrylic enamel tractor implement paint lol. I mixed it a little differnt tho. It's suppose to Be 8-4-1 and I mixed it 16-8-6. The 6 is my hardner. That's why it's so shiny. I'm very proud of myself. And I can't wait to paint my 87
The color is Ford Tractor Grey

Just went thru your build and you have done alot to your truck. Great seeing you use it for work and play. Taking it on a long trip is always scary the first time but it gives you confidence in your work when you complete your trip. Great job from where it was to where it is now. I enjoy seeing one going from bad shape to looking great. You have done well!!!

Hey guys I'm down here in AR working and I've got this weekend off. Just wondering if anyone around Blytheville AR would like to take a trip somewhere. I'd enjoy meeting new people and love to have a good time. Shoot me a PM or post here.

You're going to have to give me a materials list. What type of paint. I understand the process in theory but getting a good grasp of materials you can use at home would be good.
I'd like to paint my truck in my next garage. Similar colour but deeper into the red spectrum.
I have a compressor and my next renovations will be contracted out more so I should have more time for wrenching. I'd like it to be pretty again.
If you could be critical how is it overall? What would you have done differently?
Thanks. Your answers have been getting me stoked on moving. Can't wait to use some of the tools I have properly.

Now for paint: remember my paint was free from my cousin. It's tractor implement paint which is a heavy duty industrial paint. It is acrylic enamel. To get my nice shine I increased the amount of hardner from 2 ounces to six while leave the reducer at 8 ounces and paint at 16 ounces. I applied 1 coat of primer and let it dry for 20min then I sprayed the first coat of paint and then sprayed the 2nd coat 30min after the first coat.
I painted with my compressor set to 50psi a d my gun was adjusted to shoot a 9" wide fan. I started with the roof first then I done the hood. Then I sprayed all my hard spots which include rocker panels and body line gaps. Once that was sprayed I finished spraying the body starting from bottom and going up. Making sure I sprayed from left to right without stoping in the middle if a body panel.
As far as looks. It's great. I love it and I have had 1000 comments on it since I been down here in AR. It's a very nice job but one of these days it could use a buff job.
