I'm so proud of my little Toy!!!!
A week ago I was offered a really good job requiring me to be out of town for 3 weeks. My intentions were to rent a car for a one way trip from WV to NJ. Well that didn't happen. Sunday I went to rent a car only to find out that with my age it requires the use of a major credit card. So at 7:30pm Sunday I was forced to make the decision of driving my little 93 pickup.
To prepare I changed my oil and filter, fuel filter, and checked out fluids. I then check my wheels bearings and steering linkages. Everything checked out fine.
At 9:00AM Monday morning I kissed and hugged my wife and then started my journey. I filled my truck up and headed to NJ. At 250 miles I was in Maryland. This is we're I refilled my gas tank. This was the only stop I made and it was a very short one. At 519 miles I found myself at the job site waiting on the rest of the co workers from Indiana. It's currently 5:00PM. Took me 8 hours.
At times I seen elevations of 4000 feet with 6 & 7 percent grades. I never once down shifted from 5th gear. Upon arriving I checked my oil and its as clean as it was 500 miles ago.
Here's some pics I took along my trip.

Do not remove Oxygen sensor from these trucks....
My oxygen sensor bung thingy was rotted out causing a horrible exhaust leak. So I just removed the sensor and patched the bad spot. I drove my truck 500 miles home from NJ to WV... I only got 13-15 MPG and the smell of gas would kill ya if you left a window up. My check engine light also stayed on. So once I got home I new I had to fix this thing. I didn't want to scab a new piece in so I made my own little exhaust mod to accommodate my 2 1/4" exhaust.

I have not welded it on my truck yet due to the lack of gas in my bottle for the welder. Tomorrow ima go get my gas and have that pipe swelled a little so it will slide in place. But I thought it looked good and wanted to share it with you guys.

Well after months of having this truck I finally decided to change out the front apron and core support. I've never done this before which is why I never wanted to do it. But I have plans on painting my truck on Friday so I decided I'd tear into it.
First off I started on this around 10:00AM. I removed both front fenders and all components that are mounted to the inner fenders and core support. I then started drilling out spot welds and cutting with a reciprocating saw.

Here is my replacement that I removed off a 94 several weeks back

Here it is with the old completely removed

Now for assembly

Self taught in the beginning. I now weld part time. I can only use Mig and Stick. Although I can weld anything from stainless to aluminum. I just bought my own welder about 6 months back. I've always had to borrow. Since then I've done a lot of welding.

Yeah I've wanted my own welder since I was a kid. I could never afford one tho. I've always welded using .030 & .035 flux core until I bought my own welder. I now use .023 steal wire with the 75/25 mixed gas. My welder is a Lincoln Mig 140. It's just a simple 110v welder bought from Lowes. My spool gun costed around 200 when I bought it which I use for aluminum. Other then that I've just got a basic little machine.
Well guys as of 8:00PM today I'm finished with my Apron project. Everything's lined up perfectly. I have no pics do to lack of daylight.

I picked up a Lincoln 150 for $200.
It was missing some parts so I got in contact with Lincoln Electric. Not only did they send all the missing parts and a new gun liner, forget the name. Long steel flexible cable inside the gun where the wire feeds through.
Anyway, they sent me a couple small spools. One flux core one copper coated. Welding gloves and a couple other odds and ends. They also had me speak to a tech about a feed issue the previous owner told me about which is how I got the liner. This little care package and service was all free.
I'll be a life long Lincoln Electric customer. They even knew I picked it up second hand.
