I made a small video today as my kids and I went to a little swimming hole in the lake down from my home. I'm still running a 4.88 in the rear and 4.10 in the front so that's why I'm not using my 4WD. Other then that we had a blast.
There's some pretty nice flex in this video.

I don't think you would have hurt anything by putting it in 4WD to get out of that muddy hole.
Had always heard that the mud pit racers used a higher gear (lower numericaly) to make the front wheels spin faster to help keep the rig straight.

I didn't work today due to weather so after I changed out my wheels I decided I'd take advantage of time and install my 4.88 front diff. While I was at it I replaced both u-Joints in the rear driveshaft, installed diff drop, and replaced Driver Side front CV joint. Mine wasn't broke but the boot was ripped clean off. Been that way since I've owned the truck. Took me about 2.5 hours to complete everything. I had more trouble with the ujoints then anything else.

I've pulled several and installed two. I use all air tools. The only thing I use my hands on are the driveshaft bolts.
I also only unbolt the 12 axle bolts, 3 3rd member bolts, 12 lug nuts, and four Drive Shaft bolts. I DO NOT unbolt anything else.

Yeah I'd hope.... Lol.
The other day I was hauling another toyota pickup and I crossed a rough section of road and bent the rear section of my frame downward like 2"s. if I had a good hitch it would not had bent. My hitch bolted to the underside if my frame behind that shackles and that's what bent downward. So I got me some 2"/3" rectangular tubing 1/4" thick by 15"s long and I beat that up into my frame. Not only did it straighten my frame back out but it strengthened it up. As I stated its 15"s long so its shoved up in there past the shackles. Once I got it in there I welded everything up solid. Once I finished I installed my other hitch. This hitch bolts to the bottom of my frame and also the sides of my frame. Not only did I bolt it but I welded it on as well. I'm planning on fabricating a rear bumper that's going to be part of my hitch. So I'd rather it be really stout so I won't have to worry about it again.

Well lets see.... I tore it up. I was headed to town this evening on the interstate and when I shifted from 4th to 5th my transmission locked up tighter than a banjo string. It was so intense that it twisted my rear driveshaft clean into. I was unaware that my transmission tore up. I assumed I dropped a joint. So I just locked it in 4wd and continued my trip. I noticed it was really hard to shift gears. Once I arrived home I installed a new rear driveshaft and then test drove my truck only to notice my gears were still hard to shift. After further examination I noticed the top of my tranny and Bellhousing was busted and missing chunks of aluminum. The only pics I have are of the driveshaft. More will come when I swap out my tranny.
If you notice the driveshaft destroyed my exhaust.
Thank god I just bought that parts truck. It's got a perfect W56 tranny in it. I've already pulled it so just gotta switch emm out. I think I may go ahead and warranty out my clutch as well since i gotta go through all the trouble anyways.

Well it's been awhile figured I'd update this a little.
The transmission has been replaced along with a brand new clutch. The new tranny shifts really smooth. No weird noises. I've already pulled my 16' trailer as well. I've had no issues.
As far as exhaust I'm back to factory
I still had my ole factory muffler and tail pipe so I stuck it on the truck so I wouldn't get pulled over... I tell you what, my truck feels like a tator is wedge in the header running this factory muffler And tail pipe.
But all's good so far and I will keep this updated.

Back in march of 2012 I had a local shop build me a 22r engine. Completely stock other then bored out .020 this engine was put together using LCE's rebuild kit. The engine was built for my 87 truck that I'm SASing and 4.3 swapping. So the engine is no longer needed for my 87.
I pulled the engine yesterday and completely disassembled it to replace every single gasket and seal. As of 7:39pm today I've completely finished my engine other then the intake and exhaust. While disassembled I installed a crawler 261 cam from Engbuilders along with there complete gasket kit. Once the intake is on it will receive FlameThrowers injectors along with my tryY header. Should have some good potential.
This engine has less then 8,000 miles on it. It should be installed into my 93 in just a couple days. I'm also gonna paint it tomorrow. Here's a pic of my process so far
