I built my front bumper that's on my 87. I painted it will rustoluem oil base paint. I believe a gallon ran me like $20.00 and I just brushed it on with a brush. It's held up to some crazy stuff. I myself am a huge hunter. If I'm not chasin the dogs I'm looking for deer running over brush and smacking trees lol. Anyways here's a pic of it.

That paint seems to be good stuff. I bought it at Walmart lol. By the way your bit the only one using gas well pipe. Here's my lil Suzuki X90. I built this bumper as well. BTW my X90 is in the Peterson 4wd magazine. They called it the x Factor lol

I'm a small game hunter mainly, I've got a small pack of beagles for rabbit hunting. Love the confederate flag, and I'm gonna use that rustoleam like you suggest. Btw your Suzuki is a little badass.

Also the 268 cam seems like the best bang for the buck, after researching em I am wanting to put one in.

Well after several weeks of waiting I finally got to drop my truck off at my buddies frame shop. He's been so tied up between coaching softball and teaching Vo-Tech that he just hasn't had time to fix mine. But as of 2:15PM on 5-25-13 its been setting at his garage. Hopefully it will be done either this evening or in the morning.

As far as the truck goes I really haven't been doing much to it. I did set my aluminum bed on it and washed it up real good. Here's a couple pics of that.

Update 8:43pm 5-25-13

Just received a phone call about my truck frame. Dana the gentleman that's fixing it told me that its shoved over toward the passenger side 3.7 inches. In his own words he said "IT'S CRUSHED"

He says he will spend all day tomorrow trying to straighten it. I guess it can't hurt to try. Not like its gonna make it worse lol.

Depending on my schedule I'm gonna try to go up to his garage to snap some pics as he works his magic.

Hey thinks for the comments.

Update:
I wasn't able to go get pictures of him straightening the frame although I was able to go get my truck this evening. He was finished with it at 7:30 PM and I picked it up at 8:00 PM. I couldn't get pictures do to it getting dark however I will have pics tomorrow.

He aligned it as good as he could however he doesn't have a alignment machine to do it correctly.

Here's a todo list that I've compiled. This stuff will start tomorrow evening after work. I hope.

Replace idler arm
Tie rods
Balljoints
Front end alignment

After that I'm gonna replace the core support then go from there with bumpers and a BL of some sort. I believe I'm going to go with a 2" BL just for clearance issues I'm having with certain things.

Stay tuned pics uploaded tomorrow

i went and got my front end alignment today. Everything is perfect except for the driver front tire needs to come forward one inch. I spoke to my buddy and he's going to pull it forward on Saturday. So all's good there.

Now for the big surprise. About 15 days ago I ordered a little something and it finally came in. Tell me if this ain't gonna be cool looking once its installed. Name: null-86.jpg

Update:

Today I stripped the carpet out and cleaned the interior. After that I prepped the floor boards for bedliner. I was highly surprised that my cab was in as good shape as it was. Only had just a little surface rust here and there from wet floor boards. Anyhow here's some pics.

If I remember correctly its 3000 RPM @ 70mph. That's running 5th gear.

interesting. with 4.56 and 265/70/16 (31.5 inch) tires im running 2950 rpm at 70 mph in 5th gear. so with 33s I should be closer 2700 rpms. I was wondering what the difference in rpm are between the 4.56 and 4.88s IM looking for a little better gas mileage so I will stick with the 4.56s.

Thanks for your help and keep up the great work on the truck

Yeah I'd stay with 4.56 if your looking for mileage. If I'd guess I'd say I average 16-20 mpg...

And as always, thanks for comments.

Always a good day when you don't find much rust in an old Yota.

Okay been a while since I updated this.

I may have already stated this however after I had my frame straightend I went and got a front end alignment. The shop told me that my drivers front tire needed pulled forward 1" to match the passenger front.

Well today my truck went back to the frame shop. We pulled it forward a 1" and then measured and now its just right. I took it back to the alignment shop and they re aligned it. It's perfect now.

After all that I broke out the saws, grinders, and welder. I replaced the crossmember and installed my skid plate along with my front bumper.

I couldn't get pics because it got dark before I got finished. Tomorrow I will take plenty of pics to post on here.
