Cold start injector only affects combustion while cranking.
However, for anything that seems temperature-dependent, I would just clean all temp sensors AND THEIR MOUNTING THREADS to bare shiny metal... [at least once every 25 years or so ] I did this and it fixed my hard cold starts and rough idle until warmed up issue (thread here).
Thanks for the heads up, something I will definitely look into. In my case, it does sometimes take awhile for the engine to start. It turns over strong, but doesn't want to catch. Sometimes the engine starts almost instantly and other times it takes two or three cycles to get it running. That is what led me to also consider the CSI. Mine is actually worse in warm temperatures and only on the first start of the day do I have occasional delays getting it started. I may have two independent problems. I do need to adjust the idle up, currently around 550 when warm. I need to test the IACV and the CSI. I will add cleaning the sensors. I'll start with the idle and sensors. I'll then test the IACV since I don't have an up-idle when cold. Finally I'll test the CSI. But first I need to replace the fan clutch. I have never seen one fail intermittently, free wheel when the engine is warm one time and the next time there is resistance. Either way it needs to be replaced.
Most welcome! Always a pleasure help minimize our carbon footprint by keeping our classics out of the landfill and help eliminate the need to build one more Prius or Tesla

Yeah, cleaning CSI, CSI timer switch and its mounting threads would help that.
I put new silicone fluid in my fan, it was like $6 shipped on ebay for some slightly heavier fluid. I think I put 10k fluid in mine, factory is less, like 7k. I can't remember the specifics. I see Ray paid $40 for an Aisin fan clutch...that's a pretty good price, might not be worth messing with the fluid. I remember fighting with that rubber o-ring for a while to get the clutch halves back together.

I've done that with my Land Cruiser's fan clutch. I will take the old fan clutch apart and see what I can do to tune it for desert climates. I just need to get back to normal asap and I can change out a fan clutch in an hour or less. Rehabbing with new oil is a full day (6 hours in the oven). I just spent $54 on an Aisin from RockAuto.

I see my thread got popular
Thanks for the info on the iacv, i will definitely be doing that
I cleaned the csi timer and ecu temp sender awhile back, no change
Ray, did you use anything to clean the threads, like clr or anything?
Most sensors I've just used steel wool or a scotch-brite pad and rinse off with TB cleaner. The actual threads I just gently use a wet scotch-brite pad and for these with water since it is in the coolant. I'm always worried about introducing particles into the systems so I work very slowly.
ps, didn't mean to hijack. I was just commiserating with you.
Jeez, i haven't been on in awhile
been busy with work, and what garage time I have has gone to getting my wifes 78 mustang running (it now does, pretty sweet), and putting long overdue parts and love into my 90, so the truck has been just been daily driving
In the meantime, i can enjoy the reflection of my truck in my mustangs paint
My white 90 gt vert (my first car, now mostly restored)
wifes 78 mach 1 (im which the previous owner had a (almost running) sweet rebuilt 302 with a hot cam, high rise intake manifold, holley 4barrel. Just got that running well. It might beat mine at the drag strip. You can't tell from the pic, but it still needs a LOT of body work)
and my dads new to him 66 emberglo fastback (c code but the engine has been built into an a code +cam swap, which he just finished tuning up the night before that show)
Mustang interior is getting close. Recently the windows stopped working. It's always something, gotta love the car. Thing was a total rat when I got it.
The old man has also been at it for 40 years, he's got a 01 bullitt, 67 fastback project he's currently trying to sell (swapping for the complete 66), and an inherited 68 coupe that sat for 30 years and needs a full resto
Feel free to ask questions, I love chatting about the mustangs
Also, bummer about your header SJ, that sucks, I'd be furious. Hard to find a shop you can trust.
Always how it goes! I spend a lot of time thinking about some garage time and a lot of time browsing YT watching other people's garage time, but very little actually in my garage working on my truck. I have spurts though, so hopefully there will be a spurt here soon.
Yea, i know what you mean
Lately I need a spurt just to get my laundry caught up :p
Going back to school will suck your free time tank straight empty :p
I'm moving, need to dump some spare parts, would love to see them go to good homes!
Brush guard
New chrome grille
Chrome / clear marker lights
Turn signals
Great condition gauge cluster bezel, the slightly newer style, grey
No reasonable offer refused, been meaning to ditch this stuff for a year, and I need to be out of this house in 2 weeks, and I refuse to stick parts I don't need in storage. I live in north eastern Indiana.
Anybody else have what feels like sticky axles after not driving for quite awhile?
Happened to me twice this winter, after sitting a couple months, it felt kinda like the brakes were locked but broke free with a touch of gas.
