Well, that's both work and home. The office is at the SE corner of the airport and I live in the barracks on the NW corner. That's not even the best view, either!

The "barracks" is that double wide behind my car, just to the right of the center of the picture.

I think what I'm going to do is get a 1" spacer kit for the rear, I don't mind it being a little higher in the rear and then just level if I throw some camping gear in above and beyond my normal emergency gear. Also, I'm not actually gonna do big wheels and low pro tires, I like the stock wheels, might just paint them cause the clear coat is coming off in some places. Sticking with the same size, also, considering that it definitely will see dirt, so the extra sidewall isn't a bad thing to me.

Well, no more progress on the Runner, got it up here to Portland area to get the bi-annual DEQ check done, and while "vacationing" I've been working on my(one day, anyhow) tow rig!

It's got a 390 I rebuilt about 6 years ago that's never been fired up, just covered(though not very well while I was gone) and setting in the engine bay. Years ago when I was first installing this engine I didn't get the torque converter seated all the way and broke the bell housing trying to get the engine and trans together. Gave up on the truck for far too long, and finally assessed the damage. Still has 5 of the 6 bolts holding the engine to the trans, so it should be good to go.
The 390 should be just a little under 400 hp and in the ballpark of 500 ft/lbs of torque, shift kit in the C6 auto, and 4.10 gears in the stock D60. Should do for a tow rig, right?

Nice work dude!!!!!

3 Type 3s I thought the circus only had 2 you and happy camp.

Anyways have fun in S372 and make sure you get a good trainer this summer. You want to do most of your time in the light in the front seat, ex use is the most challanging. Stick with timmy he will teach you right.

Josh, the other type 3 is Keenwild, on San Bernardino. They have a 407 on a really long contract, like 145 days or something. Yeah, definitely planning to weasel my way into the front seat of our ship, but I'm sure I'll have a rotation with the Crane, too. All 3 of our overhead are pretty dang dialed, but Timmy's definitely the easiest going!

Kornhusker, it drove like Uncle Jesse's with the last engine I had in it. Go fast! Oh crap, under steer!

Gizler, I had a 72 highboy with the 4spd I bought for $100 cause it'd been run into a tree and the front axle was busted and shifted over a couple inches, but man it made me wish I had the 4spd, or at least a manual, for this old girl. My grandpa bought this truck brand new, though, so I don't want to hack it up very much.

Chef, this thing dang sure won't purr, it's got true dual 2 1/4" exhaust with glass packs that don't have any more fiberglass in them exiting right before the rear tires. You can't hold a conversation in this thing at 25 mph without a megaphone!

Hopefully this link works, this is what my Ford sounded like. Probably a little louder, actually, since my glass packs are nothing more than open pipes

Anyway, back to Cali within a week and hopefully I'll be able to make progress on the sas!

Ha! I'd love to see the looks on people's faces if they saw a truck like mine down under. I was with a gal from Oz for a bit, and she was terrified when I let her drive that thing. She'd never driven anything bigger than a Tercel before.

Anyway, there won't really be any more update to that until probably after fire season, unless y'all want to see a write up on rebuilding a Holley 4 barrel. Couldn't get the carb rebuild kit in time, so I'll be taking the carb back down to CA with me and rebuilding it there. Then I guess as overtime allows, getting tires, wheels, brakes, and an HEI distributor for it sent to my parents' house so stuff will be there for me to get it running when I make it back up.

I guess there is a section on here you can do builds on other makes of vehicles, huh? Maybe I'll work on that in some down time as I'm getting stuff for the Subie and Ford.

Well, back from my Oregon road trip now, the Runner handled it without incident, of course. Passed emissions with flying colors, they still are testing it as a '90 with the 3.0. Brought some more stuff down, most notably my hoist and engine stand... I think the Runner may have been over gross weight

Also, I apparently need to rough up my chrome a little better before I paint it. This is from the ice that built up when I was going through snow over Willamette pass, probably

Haha, ok, I'll be down next weekend. You cook, I'll cut and install. It better be some MEAN cookin!

Everything is ready, but given the nature of the work and how much a pain it's been to get my buddy to do it, I think I'm going to just wait til I pony up the $800 in overtime and take it down to the shop in Ridgecrest. I mean, it's one of those shops that could probably do it with their eyes closed. They built a Hammers rig for the owner of 4Wheelparts, if I remember correctly. They've also recently gotten into building and running fully custom long travel desert rigs.

They had a hand in this rig, you can see the FU2(shop is called Fabrication Unlimited Squared) sticker on one of the rear quarter panels, I think.

Ha, me too! Nah, nothing yet. Pretty sure I'll have to wait til overtime starts coming in to make any more progress on the Runner. Hopefully by about mid summer I'll get a couple days off I can plan ahead to and schedule it with FU2.

Thanks for checking, though!
