here is the updated drawing, with each length color-coded. the new design uses almost 5 feet less than before (70'8" vs. 75'). that also means it's lighter by a few pounds.

instead of making them 9", i made the rear top members 10". they stick out one inch, so i'll take the top off (below) to be able to fit wood supports for the rest of the platform.

list of members:
[qty x length (color)]
20 x 8" (red)
10 x 10" (yellow)
8 x 22" (green)
6 x 36" (blue)
2 x 44" (orange)
2 x 54" (brown)

I love the ideas you're coming up with. human ingenuity at its best. i hopefully will be swapping my dying 20r from my 80 pickup for a 3.4 v6 soon. good luck on the camper living quarters build.

a side note: u-bolts are out of stock, so i'm going to order them and do the aal's next weekend

aahhh... the joy of rain. no progress for the next 2 days.
i found a site that sells grade 8 u-bolts (the link is at work, i'll get it later). 2 bolts, 4 washers, and 4 nuts for $20. not bad at all. and a whole bunch of sizes. so i'll probably try to use the existing hardware this weekend. if i can do that without breaking any bolts, i'll swap in new bolts later in the week. if i do break one, then they all will come off then and there, and i'll have to borrow one of the family's cars to get around for the week.

Great work, Ian, ..
Happy you're liking the ride. How is the 5 turns of the t-bars working out? Also liked the insulation work!
Nice rig, Ian.... It's looking really nice. I have to read back as to what you're doing with the rear cargo area... interesting, from what I could see.
HEY, it's JDS!^^^ Another rig I like! lol.
