If your doing the chain, may as well do the water and oil pump also. Drop the pan and clean out all the gunk. It's not all that bad of a job. I had mine done in 2 weekends. 1 to tear down and clean 1 to clean and build up.

yeah, that sounds good. i think i know what i'm doing spring break (last week of april). it's the only time where i'm not commuting. shoot, that's another 2500 on the motor before then.

this job can be done in a day, IF you don't drop the pan. It is recommended to drop the pan if you suspect fragments may be clogging the oil pick-up.

Well, ya a day. When I did the front of mine I also did a H/G and swapped heads. A day is pushing it but if you have a good helper then it's not out of the question. I did mine with very little help. Good helpers make all the difference.

the only thing is finding a torque wrench. i ain't got one. i could take the valve cover off this weekend if i had one. it does sound easy enough, and if i see anything, i'll order the parts i need

I got a torque wrench, definitley something you should have in your tool chest, eventually.

Yeah, you can do this pretty quickly, depending on which route you go. I pulled the pan because I had a pretty good leak there. Plus, it makes it a lil easier far as getting the cover on quick. As 4crawler mentioned... "be patient and don't force the cover back on, it can take some finagling to get it back on over the keys if you don't remove the head". YEP, took some finagling for me, even though I cleaned them up, well, lol.

My tick is more steady, like a ticking clock(repetitive). That sounds a lil erratic(Chain rattle, valve ticking/rattle???) But you were RIGHT OVER that spot where I hear all my noise 'INSIDE', lol... that rear/driver valve cover stud. Did you take a stethoscope to the thing like I mentioned? You can listen into the covers(Valve and Timing), pretty well with those!
