Highlux's 87 runner limped back home.

Well I sold my beautiful 87 awhile ago and kinda dropped from the scene.

I told the buyer to call me if he ever sold it to ease my guilt. Well...he
called. He hurt my baby bad.

She has dings and dents...missing front valance...missing rear bumper....blown head gasket. I didnt want to even deal with it....a freind/ex employee begged to buy her...so I set it up for him.

Somehow...it sits in my driveway now. He bought it ...towed it to my house to fix...and panicked the next day. She used hhim to get to me. She has came home...broken and bruised...to her true master. She loves me and I her. It kills me to see what this hoosier city abuser has done to her. I could not turn her away.

Ill post some pictures tomorrow. I cant belive what has been done to her.
It was like she was raped. ( no offense intended).

I stumbled across your personal page awhile back and got to looking at what a great looking runner you had but did notice you hadnt been on in awhile so didnt post anything. I will eventually do a runner similar in that color as I think it just looks great.

Glad to see you got it back and will bring it back to its glory days again. Just cant believe what some people do when they get a sharp and good truck, but then again they didnt have any blood sweat and tears into so whats it matter to them.

Looking forward to seeing your new build againnnnn.

Thanks man! I missed all you guys, I wont ever sell her again.

The color is a Dodge color called Tangerine.

Definately a head gasket. Wouldn't even turn over, so I pulled the plugs...
Spun her over and she shot a geyser out of the last plug hole....like a whale surfacing for air. Wouldn't crank cause antifreeze filled the cylinder, popped plugs back in...fired right up...not even missing..lol bottom end sounded tight...no valve train noise.

So...looking at a head gasket job. The head was a new one...but Ill get it checked out. If all the other parts look good...Ill reuse them...were all pretty new. huge relief to hear it fire up and no rod knocking bullcrap etc...

Pics soon as it stops raining.

Got her into the garage...put some antifreeze in her and drove her up in there. Cylinder has filled with fluid again and wont turn over.

Brakes are soft...pedal drops to floor.

Less than 2 years and this guy mokey'd up everything.

If I hadnt had the road rage jaw breaking incident lat summer and gotten probation...Id kick his ass for hurting my baby.

Damn. What the crap possesses some people? Was he a kid? She's still pretty...little love and money, she'll be right back. Never understood how people pop head gaskets, I've abused mine, only took my kid sis one trip unauthorized mudding to crack the block...

Scored some factory rims with decent rubber for $70. Gotta love craiigslist.
Im too lazy to put them on today.

Fired my helper Friday cause he showed up for work Friday still drunk from the night before. He had a bad history of being late. ( I do tile and hardwood floors)

Good news is a found a great new helper . 21. Tech school grad. He does bodywork and paint. His dad owns a auto shop and his mom is a cop.
He came by to meet me and talk and he was all over the 4runner.

So...Im feeling pretty lucky today. He's gonna help me get the runner back into shape body/paint wise. I have no comment regarding his body work skills having anything to do with me hiring him.

I am contemplating getting a new head/cam from engnbldr, also a LC header.

I want to do the runner up this time. Lift etc...

I had that happen with a few different vehicles, but I have to say one that I sold went to a older gentleman that spent more money on it than I could ever afford to and its his pride and joy. Great looking runner you can get it back in shape.

I bought some topper trim pieces from a member to replace the ones billybob lost after I sold him the runner.

As far as the head gasket goes. I decided on an engnbldr rv head and cam. Prolly do the whole new front cover, oil pump, water pump, and chain routine like I did on my 88 at the same time. Mabe even an LC header while Im at it. Should be able to order the stuff after I do a sidejob over the weekend.

Ill take pictures of the install as I go.

Decided to lift her this time too. Doing some IFS lift research as I never had considered it before.

Did a compression test this evening.

#1 170
#2 170
#3 170
#4 Spiked to 270 due to fluid build up and we know fluid doesn't compress.

So looks like the bottom end is still good to go. Know for sure when I pull the head.

Im quite pleased with this. The motor only has about 20k on it since it was totally rebuild.

Cant wait to get the head ordered in the next few days.

What intake mods should I do with the rv head and 268 cam with lc header?
