I'm sorry about missing the misguided squirter post. I use a push-pin to aim the squirter nozzles. They sure do like to be stuck in place after all the years they're on the donor vehicle. Nice find on the Dormans.
My daughter and grandson moved back in recently so spiders and bugs in general are a really hot topic with the 3 year old grand minion!
I didn't even think about the squirters being adjustable. The new ones came in but I got side tracked on some other stuff

My left rear cargo area cover was cracked. I was looking at the bucket of left over 8020 series 10 strut I had left over from making my roof rack.
Debated about recycling it and than got to thinking about putting it to use for some rear storage. Had to creative since I didn't have a lot of long pieces. It's 34" long, 27" high and 6" deep on the bottom.
So far since I had materials I am into it for about $7 for screws. I have a bunch of plywood that has been sitting in the garage forever so I'll use 1/4 and 3/8" for the shelves and skin. I am pretty sure I have some hinges around i can use.

Had some time this afternoon to cut some plywood for the cargo area storage
Working around the seatbelt was sort of a pain in the butt

Definitely not a nice as the pro built stuff but I am still only into it for less than $10 using leftover junk from other projects

Finished up the rear storage. Well pretty close. Had to order another set of hinges and a compression latch. Not perfect but will work. Sort of wish I had left the wood natural instead of painting but oh well.

Got side tracked today and decided to make a smaller storage compartment on the passenger side
cheated this time and used a cheap boat hatch

Boat hatch......would have never thought of that. I like it!
If there was a way to make it work like the 3rd gen cargo storage does, where it doesn't swing out but lifts up and off, I'd be all over that idea. You've got so much storage though, having too much stuff in the middle of the cargo area to get to your container areas shouldn't be an issue.

haha thanks. Wish the 2nd gen had better stock storage. This was a fun low buck project

so didn't have the time to run trails this morning but got to meet @redeth005 this morning. Richard and his wife were up in the PNW visiting family.
it was great to finally meet you Richard!

Nice picture!

The fog makes that area look more mysterious.

The storage looks good. I like the boat hatch idea.

rear seat removal

Tested out the ease of removing the rear seat bottoms when I made a set of wing bolts awhile back
it worked great, twist and remove

The missus has an art business and the 4runner works great for hauling her display stuff
I used to have to lay the rack on top of the seat bottoms, awkward and wasted space
Now they go in first and lay flat

took the grandminion out to see my parents, his great grandparents last week. He loves it because they live at the end of a long gravel private road so he gets to polish up his driving skills

Dad had a flag out so had to get a shot of the 4runner and the flag

Just saw this^^^ but when I saw Redeth's FB post I recognized the truck, especially the dual-color LEDs.

Absolutely cute and happy!
A fellow hiker said he's getting ready to give his son his 1987 4Runner, so I told him to make his son promise to keep it in the family, else he'll be sorry like many who sold their first-gens.

I have participated in the Secret Santa Exchange the last few years on t4r.org.
This year my SS went all out. Scored a set of bluetooth LED rock lights you can change colors using an app on your phone

Had a FJ Cruiser side sun visor floating around.
Installed it today in about 5 minutes.
suprising the mounting holes are the same as the upper grab handles mounting holes.
will be nice this summer. Will color match it when it warms up

I still love the way you come up with these re-purpose and really useful mods...our grab handles look very similar so I may find myself doing this one if an FJ ever shows up in a yard around here....
come to think of it, my sister has an FJ with a grey interior....think she'd mind??
