I'm using Dakars designed for a 2nd gen Tacoma. About to stick an AAL in the pack to match the height of the front now that I have the 4" drop bracket

The T100 axle is the same as the Tacoma. Only difference is the ABS sensors. On the tacomas, the sensors are out at the hubs. The T100 just has one sensor on the 3rd, so it is actually compatible with my 4Runners ABS system... or it would be if I had the right 3rd in there. The 3rd I have is one I pulled off of my Tacoma before I sold it because it has 4.56 gears and ARB locker

Do you know how long the springs are eye to eye? I'm getting ready to put my Tacoma axle under my 2ng gen runner and was gonna use your write up as a reference.

I have the measurements somewhere, but can't seem to find them right now, but I'll keep looking.

Full Write-up on the leaf conversion here [lots of pics]

The rear half of the Dakars are about an inch or more longer than stock, but here are the stock (TSB) leaf measurements for a 2nd gen Taco

55" along the arch eye to eye
52.75" straight from the center of one eye to the other
Center Pin is right in the middle

Thanks a lot, not same length but I'll do the math on it, what did you also do with the parking brake?

Well, you should be able to rig up the T100 brake cables if you don't move the axle back too far. I didn't bother though because I'm about to install a Gear drive t-case and I have a transfer case e-brake I can put on it.

Hey man...I am new to this forum and to 4runners and the 4x4 world and I'm hooked...I had my 4runner up on some trails this weekend and in 4x4 (especially 4low) my tires started to toe in big time, and everything goes back to normal when in 2x4...I was looking at pictures of your front and was wondering if you would mind giving a detailed description of your steering system? Looks like you have have added some rods with heim joints? I was told I should start with replacing my idler arm and go from there...your front end looks pretty solid and different than mine. Anyways, I'd appreciate any helpful info, thanks!

The only "non-stock" steering parts i have are linkage extensions that came with the Blazeland LT kit.

It sounds like you just need a new idler arm. Happens to be the weakest link in the steering setup

2 years later, and I almost have this thing running again. Off Road Solutions is back in business, so I cut a deal with Mike to get a conversion harness made which saves me a TON of time. Now I just have to hook up all the vacuum hoses on the top of the engine, and I'm done, once the harness arrives

I agree that is a ghetto fix. Go to the wrecker and pull that axle section from a 1st Gen. Really easy mod a gets rid of more failure prone parts. I got one cheap.

Edit\lll. Didn't see the age of that post. Nice work.

With just the Blazeland kit, before you installed the 4" bracket lift, did the 255/85/16 tires fit ok with those Tacoma rims or are they rubbing? Thinking of doing this same combo without the 4" bracket lift. I already have a 1" body lift which would help.

Yes, with these Tacoma rims and 255/85/15 tires, the UCA rubs just barely with or without the Blazeland Long Travel installed. All it took was 1/4" wheel spacers to eliminate the issue. Here's some pics

With a 1" body lift, the tires won't rub the body much at all.

When doing a search for "Blazeland" you are probably coming up with hundreds of threads these days. I am creating a keyword to threads that are pertinent to the subject. Type in "Blazelander2013" to see threads that are heavy on a Blazeland related information.

Been awhile since my last update. Finally finished the 3.4L swap.

Also installed a gear drive Transfer case with Marlin 4.7 Gears. I opted to clock it 15 degrees. Clocking plus changing the angle of the drive train a little almost gives me a flat belly. I had to fabricate a custom crossmember to pull it off though. For now I just welded a 4xInnovations HD transfer case mount to the stock crossmember, so that's the only thing hanging down.
