The truck isn't staying running. It isn't because the O2 isn't there, and I know everything is hooked up properly.
Testing the fuel pump using the diagnostic port on the side of fusebox showed that fuel delivery was the issue.
Pulled the fuel pump to see what the fuss is about in there.
Hoooooly ˟˟˟˟
Tank pulled, fuel drained using an old fuel pump:
Spent at least two hours cleaning the tank out. Replacement fuel pump:

Thanks dude haha, yeah no exhaust yet.
I carfaxed the truck at work. Turns out I'm the 4th owner. Makes me wonder how the hell a truck of this age managed to avoid collision with 3 other owners. Also, the truck's last recorded odometer mileage was in 2006, at 259,000. It was last registered in 2009. It's clear from the emissions tests that whoever last smogged it did not do it legally. This thing was failing smog tests left and right back then.
When I picked it up at 264,584, I thought it had only been sitting for 3 years. If it only covered 5k between 2006-2009, and then sat from 2009-2012, this thing has 6 years of sitting under it's belt.
The truck hit 200k in 1995!!!!
So this truck had an old AIWA double din stereo in it, dated October 2001. The tires also from that time... looks like someone spent a few dollars for parts back in late 2001.
My friend John sold his 96 T100 5spd 4x4 last weekend and took out his Alpine radio. He was gonna give the buyer the radio, but I kinda threw a wrench in between the spokes of that deal lol.
Here's how... John didn't like the Alpine because the buttons were too small. Says he hates using the damn thing because he's got big fingers and the screen is too bright. I told him I would buy it off of him if he's willing to tell the buyer of the truck that it didn't work.
Well he didn't let me buy it from him. He said if he was going to keep it, he would put it in his 85 solid axle pickup (which he turned into a turbo and swapped in an R151F). Then he saw my AIWA in the truck, with it's big buttons and dim display.
Long story short, he likes his new radio and I sure as hell like mine. In fact, it's the exact same model as the one in my 3rd gen. It even has the exact same iPod cable. Looks like I need another old iPod to leave in the glovebox. I also need to buy another DIN pocket but right now I don't care.
Any Pearl Jam fans?
The radio in my 3rd gen, the day I changed the clock to red:
Doesn't seem all that bright to me, fits well I think.
Also had to change the 5/8" line from the oil cooler. Started leaking like crazy right after the video of the first start. A couple pics with my brother's (cool brother, not the same dip˟˟˟˟ who can't fix his truck) Porsche Carrera 4S. Only has 25k on the ODO.
Same car in 2008. My driveway sure looked a lot nicer then.
The top is pretty bad. The fiberglass is pitted. Thought about sanding and filler primer and all that... but my goal is a soft top someday. Don't really care that much about the hardtop. Hell, I don't even like the ghetto tint on the side windows or the cracked up wiper motor cover. Taking it on and off sucks donkey balls.
SEM Trim Black.
(not dry)
After it dried, flipped it upside down and put it on a blanket to fix the headliner. Glued it back with some 3M trim adhesive.
Pics of the truck with the top installed tomorrow. I didn't have the help of a buddy to put the top back on until it was dark.
In the meantime, pics of it topless

Thank you
It looks a lot better than pink. It's a good look but it really needs more black to compliment the top. Gonna redo the bumper ends front and rear in the same black, as well as the mirrors and other plastics. The wipers also need to be sanded and painted, front and rear. The front also needs mudguards, and I want to redo the "4WD" logo in white on the rear flaps.
Also gotta finish and reinstall the side B-Pillar trim pieces with the turbo logos. The side decals will be replaced sooner or later with James Dean Creations reproductions. The tail light lenses will be replaced with the same style, but clear signal lens. I'd also like some JDM style front corner lenses, but might go clear with both those and the bumper signals.
Should also look a lot better with those tires Matt gave me. Before all of this happens though, I need a downpipe. The clutch for the Probe just took my mod budget for the month so that'll have to wait.
At least, in the meantime, I have time to install my monroe shocks and steering damper.

Wow the inside of your fuel tank is in alot better shape than mine was!!Your 3rd gen still rates #1 in my book!!Lovin it!!

Thanks! The kickdown cable was removed from the throttle body so it was adjusted during reinstallation.
Damn now that I think about it, you're right, the tank could have been a lot worse, especially with rust.

Cleaned up the garage (it was a complete nightmare if you didn't see it)
I have a lot of tires.
This truck was missing a windshield wiper reservoir. Got this one from the junkyard. I pulled it out of a 90's pickup. Looks like it was originally from a 2nd gen 4Runner because it has two pumps. Fits though.
Replaced the 45 degree silicone bend coupler from turbo to intake pipe. The angle was not sharp enough, the new one is a 60 degree.
Replaced Radiator cap and wire wheeled the intake pipe. Going to paint it the same silver as the wheels.
Duplicolor Silver
Quick pic laying in place
While installing the pipe, I decided against reusing the factory coolant hardpipe that is welded to the intake pipe, for heat soak purposes. A section of 3/8 hose straight from radiator to turbo has been used instead.
Gonna have a downpipe made, and then redo the whole brake system with S13WB calipers and 1 1/16" bore master cylinder.

Got a din pocket from the yard-o-junk. Came from a 2nd gen 4Runner.
My friend John was in CA from Connecticut for a few days. We hung out and he gave me a couple things he had laying around. Clutch start cancel buttons The faded one I found at the junkyard, which I cut the harness for use with the nicer one John gave me. Parts to hold onto for the eventual manual transmission swap.
Crotch shot
The battery also died, swapped it out with another of the same type. The 2nd gen wiper reservoir mount conflicted with the battery tie down, so I got another bracket from a 1st gen at the junkyard.
Did up a new battery tray/spacer out of hard foam. Put some foam between the wiper reservoir to keep the battery from wiggling around.
Also bought a set of used B-pillar trim pieces and an ashtray with bracket. Those are being shipped and should be in Tuesday.

Got my B pillar trim and ashtray. Got some SEM Color Coat in Landau Black to match them to the rest of the painted interior parts.
Gonna attack those pieces and the rest of the outside trim with SEM
Painted and installed new B-pillar trim pieces.
The belts were very dirty with 26 years worth of build up on them. The driver's side was stiff with nasty build up. Grabbed a bucket, filled it with water. Mixed in degreaser, car wash soap, crazy clean, and laundry detergent. They're currently soaking and the water color has turned a nasty brown (EDIT: turned green since). Down right nauseating.
The seatbelts after soaking overnight
All of the crap that was on them is gone. Rinsed them off and installed them over the new B pillar trim.
Random pics from a drive earlier today
My girlfriend, Jeanette.
Got these from eBay... been eying them for a long time.

Paid a visit to Ace Muffler in Westminister, CA. Heard some good things about their work. Also did not trust my usual exhaust shop as they've changed welders.
Whipping up a tube for the fishmouth
Mandrel bends, part of a Toyota tailpipe. 2 3/4"
Flex pipe
Final welds
One of two oxygen sensor flanges. This one came from LC Engineering. I extended the oxygen sensor wire to accommodate the new location. The wideband O2 is at the top near the turbo outlet.
Going back home

Took care of some other stuff. The chrome bumpers were not looking too good after this many years. A few minutes with some Crazy Clean and a brillo pad shined them up pretty well.
Replaced the driver's front fender trim. Junkyard find. The old one had a few dents and a bend.

Very small list of things left before smog:
Yesterday:
Later today I will wire the wideband to power and make a temporary place to mount, for now it will be loose until I can get an A pillar gauge pod/boost gauge.
This is 100% fully warmed up idle temp. This is after letting it warm up, going for about 2 miles worth of driving, and then idle for about 5 minutes. The aluminum radiator keeps temps down very nicely.
A couple pics while it was out of the garage. My 1989 Probe GT motor is in there for now. I love looking at this truck! In stock shape, it's more aesthetically pleasing than it's plastic, huge-bodied 5th gen younger brother. 3rd gen + 1st gen = best gens. Now I just gotta get to finishing painting the plastic trim pieces (rear bumper ends, rear wheel well things, mirrors, and window frames)
- Install cat/catback from 3rd gen (temporary smog purposes only)
- Bleed brakes
Yesterday:
- Tracked down a coolant leak to the turbo coolant line (water pump side) seeping very lightly, tightened clamp.
- Tightened up the valve cover which was oddly loose and seeping some oil down the block
- Ran the wideband wiring through the cab and connected to oxygen sensor. Felt painful poking through that nice clean grommet.
- Adjusted idle (warm) to 750RPM. Properly cycles between open/closed loop.

Wideband. No pillar pods yet.
Turbo 4Runners come with a dual diaphragm booster from the factory... lucky me. Scored this brand new OEM 1 1/16" master for $26!!
Powerstop Rotors/Pads (2nd gen V6 upgrade)
S13WB calipers also pictured. Going to paint them red. Also going to refinish the manual hubs while they're off
