What are the clearances that I need to check? also this isnt a kit, I am just buying piece by piece. trying to do it for as cheap as i can. tg armor, ford shock towers, the elocker is the most so far. I have been buying some used stuff like the u-bolt flip kit and a steering stabilizer i got a good deal on used. probably gona use RUFs and f250 shocks just do lots of research to find what will work.

The clearances you need to check are essentially the felt rings contacting the knuckle ball gussets whenever it's at full turn ... The part that will probably contact is the end part of the gusset that is slightly welded onto the knuckle ball itself if I wasn't on my phone I'd copy ur picture and show u but sadly I don't have access to a computer right now but ya man whenever u mock up your knuckles youll probably see

ok thanks lives4crawlin i will check that when i put it together.
The treadwrights are doing good, i really like them and plan on getting some bigger ones when funds permit after the SAS. I really like the look of a first gen lifted with a solid axle in front. spcmike got some 33 in treadwrights and they look just like the bfg a/t he even got the side walls that say bfg a/t. there pretty nice. I am going to 35s when i can that is why i am regearing to 529.

Looking pretty sturdy! Now you got me itching to armor my axle already....maybe after the motor rebuild. One step at a time though. Cant wait till we get some wheeling trips in SAS or not.

yes sir! he bought the sas kit but made his own bracket for the front so he said i can get his, just havent had a chance to get up the hill to get it. hoping to get his ifs hubs too, have to see if someone already has dibs on those or not. I am going to go with IFS hubs so i wont need the spacers on the front.

Hey Cougar - totally hijacking your thread again - HAHA!!

Just was re reading it for kicks and came across this posting about the bulbs and my "fading out" issue. It DID turn out to be the bulb carrier metal tabs that were .... flatter than needed, leading to inconsistent current. I bent, filed and cleaned them up, and used dielectric grease when re-mounting them in the gauge cluster. Just wanted to update everyone that I haven't had a "flicker" issue since!!

Still the best $10 mod

Now, just need to figure out my coolant system from hell, but I'm not going to hijack your thread for that.

Back on topic - great build and cool video!

speaking of that my left blinker is working intermittently, I think its the same problem that you had. may need to remove cluster and bend the tabs out more. also my interior light isnt working with drivers door. works fine with the passenger door. thanks for stoppin by philbert, always good to hear from people.

Well as I was putting armor on my axle housing I noticed the end looked to be bent just past the lower gusset, I thought maybe just an illusion. But to be sure i Installed the diff and tryed to install the axles, shorts side went in easy. Long side didnt go in at all it was bent... The guy i got the axle from got it as a trade so he didnt know it was bent.. and he is getting me a new housing. I was a little frustrated as you can guess and already had all this armor on so i figured I would try and straiten it. I know its a crazy idea but thats just how I roll!! here is a few pictures of the progress. first i used a strait edge to see where the bend was then used a portaband saw to make some cuts to the bottom half of the tube .

next i set it up on jackstands with the stand just to the inside of the bend and then i put a block over the shock mount and gave it a few good whacks and kept checking it till the axle slid right in. then i slowly welded it back together.

I am going to build the upper truss into the spring pad to strengthen the outer area and I am going to get so thick pipe with ID the same as my OD cut in half and wrap the portion where I made the cuts. should be strong when done. also got a few other goodies.

thats it for now.

well not sure if its gona work perfect or not but I am sure its alot better than it was before. Did some more work to it tonight, cut out a piece of pipe and used it to reinforce the bottom of the housing where it was bent and I did some cutting for the Elocker to fit. Now I just need to drill out for the long studs and I think the housing will be mostly done.
