'94 Build in the PNW...

Alright, I literally typed my life story and when I hit preview, I got logged out. To sum it up (maybe I'll type it out again later). Been driving an all wheel drive civic wagon for the last few years, love it, but it's too small for camping and towing. My mom has had a 91 ext cab forever, so I had to find one. Ended up finding one in Idaho and the guy drove it over on his semi since he comes over the mountains once a week for auto auctions.
Here are some pictures. Mostly all cosmetic issues. Interior is perfect. Motor seems fine, cuts out a little when I'm shifting up, but seems fine once I'm up to speed.

bed damage

only real rust I can find so far, caused from a leaky battery as far as I can tell :/

other side of the bed

inside of the bed, not bad, but a bed liner will need to get tracked down or at the very least, a rhino lining job with a rubber mat

Beat up a little, not bad, again, but hoping to find someone parting out a truck and snagging a straighter one. Trail gear bumpers, front and back are on the wish list...

Lets take a peek inside. Ordering two roll up and down window crank-uhs (anyone get that, heh). Want to find some better, rubber mats as well.

Back is pretty damn clean. Couple of speakers that will probably have to go eventually. Looks like an old man had this truck, such an old man setup, lol.

No tears?!?! I'm stoked!

Can't complain about much here. CD player has an annoying beep when your pull the key out of the ignition, plus it's setup for older iPhones, not the newer cable, it'll get swapped eventually.

I'm okay with under 200K. Sure, would love a 60K truck, but I don't have the coin for that.

Alright, here she is! Everything looks good to me, but I haven't spent much time with these engines. I wouldn't eat off it, but close.

This is looking down past the battery. My mom thought it might have been a fire at one point, but I'm thinking a battery leak.

Short term goals!
Full tune up.
Getting the injectors cleaned and rebuilt.
Checking out the suspension and 4wd system.
Lube up the driveline (never done it).
Kill Switch (people suck, for now, DIY methods so I can sleep at night)
Any suggestions?!?!

Cosmetic goals!
New grille and valance
Fix fender
Take care of the bed. Not sure if I want to worry about dents and bed liner, but if I can find one, it's going in.
Rear bumper
LED bulbs everywhere, including inside.
Better mirrors.
USB outlets
Would love to track down the stickers that go on the side of the truck, can you even get those?

Long Term Goals.
The whole point of this truck was to have something to tow my jetskis and/or motorcycles to the coast or grandmas river property. I'm also on the hunt for a canopy, but would like to set it up for canopy top tenting and a dialed setup inside the canopy. I would love trail gear bumpers and sliders. A friend works for them and I'd love to support them, plus they look good. No crazy lifts or anything. Paint job might be fun as well after some body work.

Great looking truck you have. Has really been taken care of. There will be a few issues that is easily to fix on these trucks and you will find a lot of info on here on how to go about it. I think the stripes you are wanting can abe purchased from James Dean Creations or something like that. If I find the correct link I will add it here. Welcome to Yotatech and look forward to your build.

I ran across those, not cheap. I'm gonna see if it's something I can do at my job first, if not, will end up jumping on those after a paint job!

thanks y'all! Did my first real trip in the truck out to Westport, about two hours each way and it did well. Had to go into 4wd at the beach and everything worked perfectly. Loving this truck more and more and get compliments from everyone. Payday is in a few days and I'll be getting into that first tune up, oil change, etc.

Quick update!
Picked up a canopy today. Doesn't match, but I got an okay deal on it and everything is there, I'll paint it eventually. Came with nice clamps and this cool DIY folding shelf that can go in the front or back. My original plan called for a sleeping area above the wheel well, but honestly, I'd only be gaining a couple of inches on each side, so not super sure I want to spend much time worrying about it, especially with this handy shelf that can hold a bunch of stuff above us. I'm sure eventually the platform will make sense.
I also stole the LED setup for my dome light outta my wagon since it was burned out. It makes me realize I want to do LED's pretty much everywhere. First up, canopy setup of some sort. Not sure if I'll hardwire or have a cord go to the 12v at the console. I also want to do some strips under the hood. Saw it posted once or twice on the forums and it looks really handy. I want to look into it a little more and dial in something pretty clean since either setup I saw were pretty shoddy.
Up next since it was kind of a light pay check. Oil change. Air filter, fuel filter, inspect/adjust TPS. There is a perfect rear bumper at the junk yard, but it'll have to wait until next payday.

Anyways, enough rambling, here are a few photos.

Updates, a couple, hahaha....

-The car lot said they had the original canopy that was on the truck. So I got that and will be selling the blue one to a guy at work. This new one is aluminum and not a perfect color match, but I think it'll work better for what I need.

-Harmonic Balancer. Never knew about these. I figured pulleys were pulleys. Not actual multiple pieces, etc. So yeah, truck is loaded, about to head to the ocean and I hear some clanging. Come to find out it's the harmonic balancer coming apart and not doing it's job. No big deal, load up the mazda, no jetski and just enjoy the beach for what it is.

-This means I'm ordering up a ˟˟˟˟ ton of things to replace while I'm tearing it apart. New harmonic balancer, new main front seal, new oil pump o ring, lower and upper radiator hoses and new coolant.

Tonight, ordering the harmonic balancer and hoses from Amazon:
Harmonic Balancer - Dorman 594-073 Harmonic Balancer - Dorman 594-073
Radiator Coolant Hose - Gates 21171 Radiator Coolant Hose - Gates 21171
Radiator Coolant Hose - Gates 21398 Radiator Coolant Hose - Gates 21398

I'll pick up the front main seal, coolant and oil pump o-ring from the dealership tomorrow. Then all I need is the power steering pump belt (outer one). I was going to pick it up from amazon, but it was only a couple of bucks cheaper than the local option and I don't think the current one is THAT bad, so I'll probably just hold off anyways.

quick update:

Pulled the radiator, both belts, popped the crank bolts super easy. Looks like I lost a battery at some point, so I'm going to be trying to take care of that issue. Up first will be the radiator support and brush guard. I'll see what else I have time for, but I'm on the motorcycle for now and want to get back on the road ASAP. I'll post some better pictures of that once I finish this job. I also think I'm going to replace the front seal, but leave the oil pump as it is. I've read too many stories about it not sealing right (user error generally) and I don't want to take this apart over and over, even though it took me about 45 minutes to get it ready for the new pulley and seal.
So anyways, here are a couple of pictures of both my canopies. Selling the blue one this week, I'm alright with the red one, but will be going to look at a nice one off a Tacoma later this week, if it doesn't sell. Actual color match, fiberglass, the inside is carpeted, super nice. Spendy, but it's what I want, so worth it to me.
