sorry you flopped Mike... glad you're okay. how's the motor looking? i'm guessing you killed it instantly? pull the plugs and try to start it yet?

bummer about the damage. truck was super clean before. honestly, push those dents out and keep wheeling. it's really not that bad, and you're only going to get more. don't chop it. at least not yet. you'll be surprised how straight you can get everything with a little time and effort...

ask me how i know

yeah, for sure. what's keeping your door(s) from opening/closing? fender? pull the doors panels and you'll be able to push out those big dents no problem. as for the fender, pull it off and use a dead blow on the back side (with the fender against a sand bag or something).

mine is alright... trying to hunt down an electrical gremlin right now. i really need to update my thread at some point. i have some upgrades and stories worth posting.

tomorrow is Poly's Open House, so i'll be hanging out on campus all day and the Party Wagon will be in our club booth. one of these days we need to get together and wheel though...

Well i at least need a mirror, now a windshield (long story short, 85toy told me i had a crack in the glass when it was on it side, i looked afterward and told him he was smoking somthing... Then i look at the glass yeterday and wamo.. 5-6" crack..

I hope it just goes back to the side so i don't have to replace it right away.

Okay guys id figure id ask here too.

Im on a quest to make my rig more stable, both on and off road.
I really hate the way it drives, there is too much body roll IMO.

I think a lot of it has to do with the land cruiser coils in the back which i am planning on getting rid of as soon as i get some cash. I have a set of 63" chevys in my garage waiting. Im just wondering if leafs will make a difference in stability, or not.

I am also seriously weighing chopping the top of it, but i have asked a few people and they tell me that doesn't have much of an effect on it either.

So at the moment i am thinking getting some leafs under the back, and keeping an eye out for some wider wheels/tires to see if that would help. Also some better/stiffer shocks

No I am not going to go full widths at the moment, cause i don't like them for 1, and for two ive put a bit of money into these toy axles already.

So anyone have any suggestions? Other than lowering my rig, or full widths, cause i don't feel its too tall and im not swap axles at the moment.

Thanks
-Mike

id say wider wheels and tires with maximum offset would be your best bet!

Im seriously looking into doing something similar to what 4rnnr33 did with his.

Something like this and then fully caging the outside.

It just sucks, leans too much. I didn't really notice it until after i got to driving it again after the motor swap.

I got used to a stock 3rd gen that handled awesome..

Okay i am deciding between an exo or internal cage.

Im leaning twoards extenral since i could use it to pivot off trees if needed. Also its more spots to grab onto, strap to etc.. and if i roll i can still drive it home/and the rest of the week if neeeded.

If i have an internal cage, it will only protect and the body is then damaged badly..

Idk im still trying to decide.

I would go exo with chevy leafs and wider stance wheels! I think cutting it would ruin a GREAT looking Runner!!! Going to something like you keep pointing toward would be like going to a quad cab taco with a Super Short Flatbed and exo. Cutting it would remove a couple hundred pounds from the top, but wouldn't eliminate everything. It would also make the truck a little bit more nose heavy. I have that issue with my 85 standard cab truck.

If you exo it as is, you can always cut the exo, chop the back and rebuild the exo. But if you chop the back, there's no going back!!

Just my 2cents
Keep up the Great thread! Your truck is still AWSOME!!!!
