G-D it!!! For the 1st time in like forever, I am home early and Joe is stuck doing his computer course. I feel bad for him, but he has to finish today. we have all weekend....had contemplated going down with Brandon to Rausch for that ???King of the Hammers??? thing?...but that would be "fun" but we won't get anything done

2nd delivery came today......plugs and wires.

Joe is STILL tied up doing his computer Latin (I would absolutely NEVER recommend this particular course)....so ......the house has to be quiet, so I went out and decided to do something.....so I painted
But 1st....a BEFORE pic

and AFTER

certainly NOT the finished product, but looking pretty darn good if I do say so myself

poor Joe was upstairs having a nervous breakdown doing his Latin finals and projects.....not so cool for me and the wife for a few reasons such as 1) I know some latin by default of working in medicine, but that's about it....(shoulda had Brian (WABBIT) on speed-dial) and 2) I know nothing about 'converting files" or anything remotely computer-savvy-technical blah-blah-blah, so we were unable to help Joe when he was having problems.....and his instructor......grrrrrrrr.......her emails drip with sarcasm and one night I told her to call ME IMMEDIATELY ,and she did, and she started off with sarcasm and I almost immediately had her on her veritable heels .....and on and on...to where she told Joe's guidance counselor that I was "intense"......sweety....you ain't really ever met me and you only got about a 10 minute dose.....she's in San Diego.....Troy......never mind. but anyway, it's over. today is a new day, even though the world is gonna end, we are still going to make a go of working on his motor.
that would be rust, sister. actually that would be bare metal after being degreased and essentially etched with the "cut diamonds" tip on the pressure washer.

so...
took the rest of the valves out....bagged and tagged....cleaned the bottom of the head......cleaned the valves......lapped the valves.......have to take out the oil seals / clean / put new oil seals in / chase the spark plug holes (cuz it's much easier to do now) / clean up the block and put this head on.
roadblock......Joe is sick....running a fever....likely either from being inflamed for allergies the last 3 weeks or because he is run down.....so this may be it for today.
pics...
this is a better way to do it....on it's side

yucky

not so yucky

the "contraption" has made it's reappearance

OCD hard at work

BEFORE cleaning

after (love that the "TEQ" is visible)

valve lapping done

and the head-side

time for some food

we actually did work a bit more....after I cut the grass to make the place presentable for the end of the world that never happened.
new oil seals in on driver's side head....3 valves in....PITA majorly to get those little half-circle things in......but got it done. block cleaned on drivers side, head bolt holes cleaned, piston tops cleaned, acetone on all.
tomorrow......new knock sensor wire, finish the valves, final cleaning and install the driver's side head?....or wait and install both.....nah....probably 1 at a time.
