I figured since I decided what I was going to build I would put on here to get ideas and keep track odd what I've done I'm building a 87 pickup I've had the truck for 10 years and slowly been building it up ever since I got her. The truck is a ifs 4x4 base model.
The truck is blue inside and out.
What I've done so far:
New brakes (all the way around)
Rebuilt the motor (22r bored, stroked, Weber, egr delete, header)
Rebuilt the transmission(w56)
Rebuilt the transfer case
New tires (33x12.50 super swampers)
New exhaust (2 smoke stacks)
3in. Body lift
What is planned for the near future,:
Bucket seats
New cv joints
Custom Center console
Interior changed to black
Nice truck, I've always wanted to try one of those dash cap covers, I have yet to own a toyota thats had a nice uncracked dash pad, lol. Keep up the good work!
I have only ever seen one that wasn't cracked but the dash cap I got off ebay for around $75 it was fairly easy to do just had to do the prep work I figured out taking the dash pad out was the best way for me to insure it was lined up right and I used about 6 clamps while the glue was drying and with it installed you would even know its a dash cap. only trick to getting the dash out is not breaking the vents like I did. There is a good right up in the yotatech files that tells you how to take the dash out it was my saving grace.
Nice looking truck you got. When I was in the service, the base usually had some great shops to do all kinds of work. Learned a lot working on my cars on the bases. Welcome to Yotatech.

Thanks, the shop here on base is really small but has a good group of guys.
Nice work, and you're lucky to have a carbed engine (Unlucky Zombies- LOL!)

I would totally keep any kind of electrical stuff away from that console. That's where we spill our coffee, beer...
I don't like the stock console, either. Too much unused space that only traps things we drop beside the seats. Keep up the good work and sharing what you have learned!
So I finally was able to get some more work done to my baby, I completely rewired the radio and added new dash speakers, put in a new heater control unit, rewired and installed a factory dash clock, fixed the wiring issues with the lights, finished the touch up paint on the interior(pics coming soon if they will upload), fixed the leaking rear pinion seal, rebuilt all the front suspension, and finally got a new power steering pump.
I need to get a better performance distributor but not which one to get any suggestions???
Also wanting to get y'all's opinion on SAS I have the axle just don't know if it would be worth it due to the investment.
And I think I'm going to add the gauges for the center console into wear the tray is under the radio, and run it all the way up to the back window but having the ammo can be removable.
Hopefully it won't be another six months before I'm able to do more work to it!!!
I was able to make some upgrades on the got a recently, I was able to get a new Davis unified ignition distributor for the truck, and it works great the DUI really woke it up.
I also added my own gauge set water temp, volts, and oil pressure to finally get rid of the one sticking out the side of the dash. I made holder out of a scrape piece of aluminum I had laying around and bent it in the vise to fit where the din under the radio is.
First test fit with gauge Final product i will be painting it once i know I'm done fixing all the dash wiring.
I'm Hoping it won't be another 6 months before I'm able to do any real work on it again but who knows, in the mean time I'm in the process of remaking the full factory wiring harness I will also be adding some extra circuits for stuff I may put on down the road. I will try and remember to take pictures and post parts and how I built it I'm thinking of changing all the 22ga wire to 20ga, anyone able to think of a reason not to?
As for now I'll keep y'all posted.
