'87 22-RE pickup D.D.

Here is our 1987 Toyota pick-up 22-RE. 15K on rebuilt motor, header, HD OME rear leaf springs. Other than that it is stock. Every system on the truck has been overhauled with lots of Toyota O.E. parts.

sitting, facing uphill so it is a little hard to see the stance from the OME lift. Note the '91 in the backround.

2wd 87 the the right backround

Just posted on your other build and found this one. Looks like you have 3 extended cabs and a standard cab. The extended ride so much better in my oppinion. Looks like all are great trucks.

The '86 and '87 are mine. The '91 extended cab is a customers. The 2wd '87 single cab is a roommates and the single cab '78 is a close friend who is doing his build here. I am getting out of it now, but I spent the last three years working as a mechanic on Toyota pickups/4runners only. Home based repair shop, ASE certs, BAR registered, liability the works. Pulled it off too, but I am getting burnt on wrenching. Figured somebody might get something of use out of these posts. I have certainly gleaned a huge amount of info on here. Time to reciprocate. Three extended and two singles in the pics. I will post if I can find them we did a group shot with most of my customers vehicles lined up, 20 something yota's in a line. Every generation from '78-'04 was represented.

This gives and idea about those HD OME springs. They are no joke, that is a hydraulic power unit with a 20hp 3-phase Lincoln electric motor. The unit is full of hydraulic oil too.

Thanks, sometimes I regret the springs for sure. I think medium duty springs would have been perfect for our context. I move many yards of compost, mulch, and really a lot of lumber, ect. with the truck so, I figured HD for sure. But, those suckers are stiff. If the truck is empty it is a stiff ride.

The future build of this truck will be a dump cylinder for the bed, and 4.56 gears.

That does look like a heavy load and did not move the springs much. I would like to see how a dump is added to these trucks when you get to it. I could see that being a useful option. Been a few times I could of used something like that.
