1988 4 runner 400 small block
I went and picked up this 1988 4runner yesterday it's on 39s with a small block 400 Th 350 tranny 203 tcase halftone running gear. Picked it up for 2800. When we picked it up there was a short to the start button and almost caught on fire. Also the trans was slipping. Today we plan on fixing the wiring problems and taking a look at the transmission. I will post more pics as I go. Also plan on doing a lot of work to in inside make new fender wells remount fuel tank and more. If you have any suggestions let me know

Nice looking rig for $2800! Looks like someone spent some time and money on the paint job, I like the green! What's up with the hood though, looks like it's just sitting on there in the pic. You mentioned re-mounting the gas tank, are you still running the original tank? A lot of people run a bigger Ford pickup tank (F-150 I think?) and mount it where the spare tire goes underneath, it tucks up out of the way and doesn't hang down like an anchor like the original one does, I want to do this to mine someday. Whats your plans with the axels, are you planning to go with 1-tons eventually? Look forward to your build and some more pics!

I was thinking about mounting a fuel cell in the back. Today I fixed the short in the wire. I think what happened is someone had a push button started on the mount on the center consol behind the stereo and the stereo slid down and was hitting the button. Also found the trans is no longer slipping. But has a leak where the dipstick goes into the transmission. Tomorrow I plan on fixing the heater and working on the breaks. I bled them today and it has peddle but when starting it up and hitting the peddle it goes to the floor. Could this be the Toyota master cylinder with chevy breaks causing the problem?

So I tried to take the runner out for new years wheeling. On the way out the motor started to knock. So today pulled the valve covers off to find that who ever did the valves had them way to tight. Also found out I have a flat spot in the cam. We will be soon putting a new cam in it. Want to do a mild cam. Anyone have any ideas on on a good cam to go for?
