It's been awhile since I’ve been on a Forum. Thought id share another build Ive picked up. 1988 4Runner. PO did a ton of work and had a lot of fun with it as you can see. The body is too far gone to put much work into it. Just going play with this one. List of what has been done so far: SAS with All Pro truss Hydro assist steering Hiem’d front cross over steering /high steer Trussed pitman arm Moved steering gear box forward on the frame Trial Gear long field axles Dual x-fer case with 2.8 and 4.7 ( Marlin Headers 35x 12.5 x R15 Maxxis Creepy Crawlers 9500 lb winch Front bumper looks to be custom ( Haven’t found it yet , if anyone knows what it is ket me know)
Going to try to share the rest of the build as I do the things I want to do to the rig. Follow along, or don’t, but I'll share what I can. Thanks.
The interior was trashed. Found a donor truck at the local pick a part and grabbed the front and rear seats they were out of a 2nd gen 4runner. Front driver bolted rite up. Passenger and rear bottoms required drilling. Rear uppers will require some fab work to get the seats the latch safely. Plan is to put buckets in once the more expensive stuff gets fixed. For now its much better then is was.
2nd gen front seats 2nd gen rear seats. Mounting holes need drilled Fab work needed for latch mechanism
Front fenders came in, I got them thrown on. I will have to re-determine were the full tuck is on the 35"and trim accordingly. Going to try to roll a lip on them once cut to allow for some rigidity this time around.
the rear seats are from something else, that's why the latch stuff doesn't line up. same with the seat bottom hinges; not the factory mounting locations.
edit: i missed the part in your post where you noted they came from a second gen.. LOL.

Ok here are some progress update pics. Just been having fun building for the last year. Taking shape though. As she sits as of 1/2026. Thre some kick outs on the rock sliders. Brought the A- pillar tube out of the cab for more leg room. Got the cage burnt in. Added a shade topper for the kiddos. Got the Simpson Seat in And dropped the down a couple more inches. Still working on some fab work to make them adjustable. Still thinking on adding more cage all the way to the rear instead of ending it where it currently ends. The top will still fit on both ways.
