Hey man speaking from personal experience as well as read on Dirtco's build. the knuckle ball gussets need to be ground down a little bit to allow the knuckle to fully turn . id suggest mocking it up seeing what hits and grinding it back, just fyi excellent build btw

I had to grind mine down also, gets worse if you use the rock guard felt protectors

If I were a smarter man I would have cut off the bottom shock mounts first, put the new lower shock mount in place, grind until it is clear of the felt protector at full lock on each way. Then rebuild axle...

If I were a smarter man

Well i did not mock them up first so any grinding will have be done with them welded on. But i am going to rebuild the axle before i put it up under the truck. So that should make it a little easier.

Thanks guys

You guys were right. I mocked up the knuckles today to see if the felt and rings were going to clear the gussets. I had to grind a little off the welds top and bottom. But not much. Thanks for the heads up.

hey TinMan, how high does your runner sit with the 5"TG? i have been looking into the same lift but dont want to go to high. the computer i use to surf the site here wont show pictures, that is why i dont just look for myself.

also, why did you go one inch lower in the rear? on trail gear's site they suggest equal height kits for our year Runner?

Thanks guys everything for the front axle and frame is ready to por15 and chassis black. Hope to get that done this week.

I went with 5" rears and 4" front because with the weight of the top it should level the runner out. If you u go with the same night all the way around you have a good chance of it looking like the rear is sagging. The 5" springs are pretty tall. I will have to jump a little to get in. And i am 6' tall. I knew hat hen i bought them. But i expect thhem to settle quite a bit. Seems that all Hess flexy springs do. I actually expect them to settle enough that i will have to move the rear shackle hanger later.

awesome, thanks! beautiful build by the way. i havent seen that you trimmed anything to make the 35s fit, do you have any rubbing at max flex while steering?

The old runner hasn't been out of the garage yet. It is still sitting on Jack stands waiting for me to paint. All the front end, and then re-install it all. But the 35's on the rear have plenty of room. 33's might even look small wig the TG 4" springs. I have not bump stopped the back yet because i don't have any way to fully stuff the back. I think i am going run it with no bumps until the springs settle a little, then see about bumps. Later

very nice...i have been pm-ing wasklywabit about minimum lift and he said i could get away with a 3" front and a 4" rear to accomodate 35's and not have to trim. he also assured me that a high steer will fit, so that is what i am going to be going with. we need to get together when i am back from Afghanistan and our trucks are ready so you can show me the worth-while trails in NC.

A little forward progress. Got the front axle painted and ready to install. Just need to get with Wabbit and see if he will powder coat my calipers and hub dials.

Got the springs in and ready to mock the axle in.

After much pm'ing with wabbit, I think the steering box is placed right. I will know for sure tomorrow after I get the axle in.

Still need to order the front wheel spacers. I am sure I use the yotatech discount at Wabfab.

Also picked a little something to warm the garage. Make working this time of the year a little more comfortable. Fire it and in an hour I have to turn it off. The cost of kerosene sure has gone up though.

Hope to have the front axle done this weekend, but I will also have my Grandson again, so I might not get it done.
