Well no pictures but thought I would post a little update.

Been running the old girl to work for three days now and she has done pretty good. I can only take it up about 50 mph and then the drive shaft vibrates to much. I ordered a Tom Woods double cardan heavy walled drive shaft yesterday, they are doing free shipping so that covered the heavy wall tube.

Installed a cheap air/fuel ratio gauge so that I could see what was going on. Right now I am running 6 teeth rich on the AFM and that has really helped out the idle. The A/F gauge bounce really smoth from just under optimum to just over. And the same while cruising down the road.

I bypassed the AC VSV, and that also really helped the idle diving down when you come up to a stop. Guessing the VSV is bad, so will have to replace it before spring.

I have a wicked rattle/squeak. But only when going down the road and more so when under excellention. Got under it tonight and checked for anything loose. Only thing I could come up with was the shackles were jut a tad loose, and the sky E-brake. On the e-brake I put some grease on all the moving parts and a few washers here and there to keep it a little tighter. I'll see how it does tomorrow.

Thats about it for now.

Last night thought I would give the exhaust manifold studs once check before putting the heat shield back on. All the studs needed about a quarter turn to get to the required 33 lbs. until I got to the rear upper stud, it just spun in the head. But I but several of the 7/16x14 studs ran it in and it seems to doing just fine.

And one more thing, the steering is really heavy. Basically feels like an old manual steering set up. The pump is not screamin, and I took off the return line and let it pump some into a bucket, so I know it is pumping fluid. I followed the AFM on the bleeding. I don't think there is air in it. Anyone know if this is normal with the high steer and 35's?

Farted around outside this morning, cleaning up the scap metal and useless parts I've had laying around. I was surprised to see that I ended up with almost a bed full in the 94.

Then I decided to start on the square drive shaft for th front. I had some 2" 1/4" wall square tube, and some 2 1/2" 3/16" wall square tube so I decided to do my best with it.

Used the 85 double cardan and 85 front yoke.

Of course there is 1/16" slop all around between the two square tubes. I have some 1/16" thick plastic that I am going to cut and slip in tube. Also need to put some grease zirks in. I picked some up, but ended up using them on the shackles.

I'll mix up some black next chance I get and put a little color on it.

Hello Tinman.. I got a smile seeing your shop empty. Knew that had to be a good thing. After all of the work you pit into it, bet it was a nice ride, even at 50. That deserves a big congratulations.

I am envious of your fab skills. You have done top notch work from the begining of your build.

Thanks Terry. I'm not to sure I like the garge being empty.

I had to whip up a tail pipe tonight. The exhaust coming in the cab was a Little ruff. It looks ghetto. But it will work for awhile.

Also noticed today that it is burning oil on start up. Checked the dip stick tonight, and it has burned about 1/2 qt since the oil change after start up. Since it goes away by the time the idle drops down, am pretty sure it must be valve seals.

I am using shell rotella T1 10w 40. Have always herd good stuff about it. But maybe net time I'll try Mobil extended.

The shop installed the Vitton valve seals that came with the rebuild kit. I have always heard good things about the Vitton seals, but we will see. I am deffinately not going to tear the head off because of a little oil burn.

No build thread yet , just picked up a new project last week , 84xcab. Got a pile of parts , and more coming for Xmas. So after the first of the year I'll have some time to get down to business and start a thread. Got some good ideas from your build.

I love the big brown Santa. I hope he comes to visit me with my new drive shaft tomorrow.

I think I might get to tear the front axle apart again. I was up under it tonight taking my square shaft out to give it coat of paint, and noticed what looked like gear lube coming from the bottom of the front diff seal. I cleaned it up, and will see if get any more. If so I'll take it apart and fix it on my Christmas brake.

Also can not figure out were the nasty rattle/squeak is coming from. Had almost all the guys from work under it today. Was coming back from lunch and they heard it. Tomorrow I am going to take in my creeper, lay on it and hold on under it while one of the boys drive it slow and see if I can find it

Got my new drive shaft in today. It was leaning on the door when I got home. I'll take a few pic tomorrow. It is really well built. I took it out for a little run and no vibration or rattling. I got it up to 80 and still had plenty of peddle left. I was cruising nice and steady at about 80 and the steering got really light. I thought something went wrong so I pulled over to check it out. Nothing leaking or out of the ordinary. Got back in and pulled away and the steering was light and perfect. Turns out that something just got right with the PS system. Wether that air or the pump just needed a good run I don't know. But it is really nice now.

The brown Santa is always nice to have to visit. Glad to see you got to give it a good run.

On the getting the steering bled out, I find it best to jack the front tires up and rotate back and forth. Seems to do a better job the when the tires are on the ground. Glad to see it worked itself out.

On the squeak,do you think it is a drive train squeak or a body squeak?

Sorry forgot to post about the squeak. It was the drive shaft I made. We found it at work the other day. Also noticed when I put the new shaft in, the rear pad on the Sky e-brake was rubbing the larger TG Multi mount flange out of the T case. Had to take a grinder and clearance the top of the metal backing on the pad.

Not an update on my runner, but we installed one of my son's Christmas presents in his truck.

They came from some type of little Dodge car. They need a good shampooing. We had fab up some mounts and weld them onto the stock sliders. He really likes them.

Now if could just find a decent bed I would throw a paint job on it.
