well not much of an update, but i've started tinkering in the garage again to prepare for summer. got a lot of maintenance issues taken care of, fixed my "no start click" issue finally after dealing with it for 3 years. then came some bad news...
did a compression check just to see how she's holding up, and i'm getting 90-100psi.

some of that may be the altitude, but i think i'm going to be looking into a long block next winter.

 

Your running a second gen radiator. Is it bigger than the original?? That why your running it??

 

yea, its a bit bigger than the 4 cyl. ones. the hose inlet/outlets are still on the wrong side for this motor though, really needs a custom radiator

yea already tried that route, sprang a leak within a month! I'm not a big fan of aftermarket radiators unless they'll offer a lifetime warranty and those brands are big $$$

I've been fighting tire balancing issues for 2 years now. as my MTR's wear, they seem to constantly be out of balance. last summer i had them re-balanced twice and they never seemed quite right. So i'm through with paying tire shops to do that. i keep reading mixed reviews on balancing beads, mainly equal and dynabeads.... i found a different company called counteract that says they're better than both the others. i can't find much on the forums about this brand, and after i spent some time on the phone with them they convinced me to give them a shot. I picked up enough of the beads to do all 4 tires for 20 bucks on ebay so i don't figure i'm out much if they don't work. i'll update this on their performance.

Not much to report, i'm 2 months out from my wedding so my truck is getting neglected right now. i did get the balancing beads in the tires. took quite a while (6 oz is a lot of beads!), i would definitely recommend de-beading the tires if you have the equipment to do it, it would make the job a lot quicker. i haven't driven it yet cuz i gotta change the oil and do some other stuff, but i'm planning on getting her out of the barn this weekend for a little gallop

 

Congrats on the upcoming wedding! That'll be keeping you busy for awhile with all the planning, making arrangements, etc, unless you're lucky and your fiance does the majority of it, lol!

Look forward to hearing how the beads work out for you, that's something I'd be interested in trying.

 

Were the tires mounted??


Maybe let air out and put pressure on bead to pull it away a bit and dump them in, assuming you had your tire on the ground.

so i'm ready for a winch when my money tree starts producing....

and drove 100 mi of highway to see a friend of mine. the counteract balancing beads work GREAT! My truck has never driven so smoothly on the highway! They make no noise at all at low speeds, and the tires stay balanced no matter what speed i'm going. I would highly recommend them, especially since they are so reasonably priced (i have 22$ in to mine). It was actually so smooth that i noticed some driveline vibration, probably has been there a while i just couldn't feel it over the tire wobble. so i gotta start digging into that, hopefully its just an out-of-balance driveshaft rather than a bearing...
