this is a very clean 84. I like the expedition style build.

I like the expedition style but it gets a little heavy doing day to day driving. I have the tent and topper off right now but going back on in a few weeks for a camping trip!

Diff flange gasket

Front diff has been leaking from the third member drive shaft flange.
So I dug in!

Dirty old gasket and dust shield

Tearing it out

Transmission fluid

First time changing transmission fluid. I've read that royal purple is the way to go. I couldn't figure out how to fill it up at first. But this is what I came up with.

How about that

Camper

Sold my tent and got an old school camper. Paid 75 bucks!
I bought it from some girls who just drove their toyota across country camping in this thing along the way.

Plenty of maintenance needs to be done including remove screws and wood blocks holding the roof rack on.

Love this thing, it's solid as a rock!
Girls told me it's a snug top from the late 70s. Need to check for myself I guess.

Testing my 4x4

Installed my front drive shaft and took a trip to Hidden Falls.
Man I love my OME suspension.
Top seemed to be fine bouncing around.

Thats a great score on the Topper!!!

Looks like you had some fun doing a little off road! Glad to hear the springs are working great! I really cannot wait till mine show up.

What length shackles did you go with?

Yeah man it was a blast! First real offroad trip since I bought it. I went with the OME stock length shackles.
I might get some longer shackles and add a leaf down the road but it works great for now with my 32s and light bumper/no winch.

First off, sweet build, I like the fact you are also redoing the interior. I do have a couple questions, where did you source the stickers for the glove box? That is a nice touch. Second, where did you source the dash and door panels? Was that mostly luck, or does some place sell replacements?

Appreciate it!
Door panels and dash are used eBay parts. Door trim is new and also found on eBay.
The glove box sticker was hard to find but eventually got it ordered from:
cruiserparts.net

This is the exact sticker I ordered. First pic isn't the right pattern but the next two are lol. Anyway the right sticker showed up in the mail.

Hey bud,

Quick question........ How long did it take for your springs to settle. I have yet to get mine on the ground yet and the Rear shackles are vertical at this point. I know that they will settle just curious.

Post up some more pics of that wheeling spot you have. Wish I lived near an area like that.

Wheeling spot was great. It was cool to see some of the limitations of my truck. Kind of shows me what needs work(open diffs, no sliders).

Actually my rear shackles are pretty straight up unless I load the truck down. I'm guessing it would take a few weeks of driving around with some sand bags and maybe a couple wheeling trips to really flex the springs and break them in.

Thanks for the Info!!

I almost have mine completed. Just need to weld the IFS brace to the Frame.

Are you going to do High steer on yours? Cant remember what you said.

If you weld that crossmember in it is going to be a SOB to get it off the truck again if you ever need to drop the differential or anything else.

Drilling holes in the frame horns suuuuucks, but do that and bolt it in with some Grade 8 hardware.

?? I'm referring to the IFS Brace kit for the High steer. It's the brace for the IFS steering box that has the frame tubes. It gets welded to the frame.

Roger that, never mind. I had a feeling that might have been what you were referring to
