Looks like when the ring broke, possibly a piece of it wedged in the cylinder causing the piston to chip out like that.
I have a 22Re in the storage that did the same thing.


I have a lot of pics and info on my build thread of when I put my engine together.

Make sure you Plasti-gauge the mains and rod bearings to check for oil clearance. That is a Must!

Engnbldr has some great kits. Thats who I used for most of my stuff. You could also get a Cam while you are in there. Make it run a little harder.

I think you will be surprised at the power difference after the rebuild. Will be like night and day.
