Gonna have to rethink the bed bob project. It is something I want to do eventually but it looks like at full stuff the rear shackle would lay back into where I put the tail lights. I could move them up but also need to figure out bumper mounts as I really like my Marlin bumper, the outside tubes can be cut and sleaved but mounts would need to be reworked.

So for now I am gonna work on getting the top mounting area cleaned up and make the plates to allow the top to be removable.
Along with the top plates kind of tossing around the idea of adding kind of a bedrail slider, something along these lines as I don't want to do an Exo:
1.75 tube, kind of big:

1" tube(actually a socket but you get the idea)

It could be tied into the cage in a couPle of places..

Post up some of your welds, hell they can't be that bad.
Hey Toyo- thought I had thrown this piece in the recycling but found in by the corner of my garage-besides the flux core splatter, they don't look half bad:

This is with my $64 HF welder....

1.75 looks little big and 1"on look small. Prob be good with 1.25". Could weld it to flat a piece of flat steel and mount it between top and bedside. That way its removable

Using a heat gun and a putty knife I got all the sticky Butyl tape off the can and bedrails, this was about a third of it:

I got lucky and found only minimal surface rust on the cab after getting rid of all the adhesive, I do get to fill in 20-25 holes though

Had some honey do projects to do so I primed it till I get time to fill the holes:

Also found some cargo rail tie downs I bought a long time ago, mounted to the fiberglass with a backing plate should be good for a cargo net:

Instead of filling the holes why not use them as a template and insert riv-nuts so you can remove the cab?

There are about 18-20 holes just across the top of the cab, winnebago had no rhyme or reason as to a pattern-very random.
My plan is to use 5-6 5/16" bolts through the roof to the subframe Winnebago installed when they did the conversion.

I see. Could you weld nuts on the subframe so you could just use a ratchet to remove those bolts, like on the 1stGen 4Runners? I think there are 7-8 bolts on my cab to cap seal IIRC.
It's your truck, but i try to keep everything metric on my rig, and if i am replacing bolts i use stainless when possible...try boltdepot.com.

If you didn't put bolts in the holes of the cab, would you bondo or weld the holes? Just curious.

my plan was to weld the holes today...i was practicing on a scrap door and just kept burning bigger holes in it..so am holding off on that part of the project. Hoping my buddy Roman can help patch them. He is a body work wizard

got one of the bed rail adapters done to make the top removeable:

there are five nuts welded to the back side of the strip..
need to convert the carraige bolts to garage door bolts (flatter head) and add 2-3 more of them..
i wanted to try to clean up the butyl tape winnebago used to attach the tub and bed sides but it wasn't worth it...plus it is pretty much what holds the bed sides on...
and yes I need to fix the cracked fiberglass where my old tailights were..backed into some junk in my garage

Been trying to go through your thread. I missed out on a Trekker in Oklahoma City without a top for a really good price. When I was in the market for one, couldnt find one. Im sure one will pop up now that I have another project going on.

Those are just great looking trucks.

Im not big on bobs, but if comes out looking like the photo, I think it could look great.
