I have a 2008 Ranger and its about time I get new tires on it. When I get new tires I'm going to get new wheels.

Mainly on Toyota's guys put wheels on them that stick out like 3 inches on each side. So the body isn't the width the tires are, cuz the tires stick out 3 inches more than the body on each side.

I need to know where to get these wheels. Like do I say I want wheels with a 3 inch offset or wut?

Wut wheels stick out that look real good on a toyota? Cuz I'll get them, don't be afraid to post pictures of your ride with them on.

Wheels that stick out of the wheel wells are hard on front end parts, spray stuff down the side of your truck, and look generally ridiculous in my opinion.

 

Anything with a high negative offset will stick out. I have 15 x 8" wheels with a -19 mm offset. I wouldn't recommend you get wheels that stick out unless you need them for clearance. I have them so that my 12.5" wide tires don't rub on the frame.

 

i think when you get new tires and wheels, you should get a TOYOTA to match them.

 

Most keep the factory back spacing...We just run wider tires and that does not make the trucks look bad @$$ they just are Bad @$$

Is there much difference on getting a backspaced rim or wheel spacers? and theyre both hard on front end arent they?

 

All rims are backspaced.

Few toyotas have similar offset.
86-95 trucks - runners have like 4.75" or something.
So for an example if you want the tires to go out, You need less backspacing.

So go from stock rims with 4.75" backspacing to 2.75" backspacing to push the tires out.

Mainly a real big offset like that, as well as wheel spacers, Change your scrub radius (turn radius), are harder on wheel bearings and steering parts.

I personally wouldnt go more then 1" under stock BS.

Geometry wise, there is no difference in say using a wheel with 1.5" less backspacing or a 1.5" wheel spacer. Both will push the wheel out 1.5" wider and both will change the front tire scrub radius (steering) and add load to the front wheel bearings and ball joints (added leverage). Backspacing has the advantage of no additional wheel lug studs and nuts like you get with spacers.

 

So a rim with zero offset would stick out wayyy too much?

 

Zero offset means the wheel bolts up right down the center of the wheel. Offset measures how far off of center.

ZERO BACKSPACING means the wheel would bolt up on the inside plane of the rim.. ie doesn't exist. Backspacing measures how far from the inside of the rim..
