Around 2001, I bought a set of 31x10.5-15 AT's for a 1994 Nissan 4x4 Pathfinder with about 160K miles on it. I was broke after buying a condo, the economy was bad, I was worried about loosing job. I bought four 31's with AT's from Hi-Tech Retreading for $240 shipped to door(they've gone up since!) and had them mounted for $60 after FINALLY finding a tire shop that serviced commercial vehicles to mount them (The local discount tire type places wouldn't touch them.) It was 1/2 what BFGoodrich TA's were going to cost mounted. They looked really good, but I swore I'd replace them the next Spring when times got better.

Thing is I never replaced them. They were the regular rubber, not the greendiamond or UltraGrip II with walnut shells they offered later. The casings were Goodyear AT-GSA, which road a lot stiffer than my all-season type tire that had gone bald. I off-roaded them only 2 or 3 times airing them down to 12-15 psi, and they performned as good as any other AT tire that was on the trips.

Thing is, they handled great on dry, wet, snow, decent on ice. So much I decided to keep them. My only complaint was they are a bit loud, but something I could live with if everything else preformed well. I drove the truck up until 199k miles when I blew the head gasket due to my lack of time to do proper maintenance anymore (married with fixer-up house.) I racked up around 40k miles on mine with 50/50 drive highway/city driving going to and from work getting a MBA at a local university 30 miles away every other day. (yeah, redneck KY guy getting MBA driving on recaps)

I went out like many other snobs and bought a new Chevy Colorado 2WD CC three years ago 'cause I didnt' have time to wheel or maintain my junk. Tread is about 3/4 gone on stock OEM all-season tires now. Had to field-plug a nail hole in one of them first night of the ice/snow storms we saw here last week in parking lot. I bought a 235-75-15 AT with UltraGripII from Treadwright last week and have a factory OEM wheel to be delivered from ebay so next time I can throw on a full size spare.

I plan to mount this one and evaluate it and use as a full-size spare and will probably buy 4 more this summer. This truck isn't junk, (other than it's a chevy), but 2WD truck that will be on highway 99.9% of the time and is less than 3 years old, so I definetly have faith in the tires to put them on it.

There you go, a guy with about 40k miles on a set, still had 5-10K more if I'd not blown her up, and willing to buy another set.

Also, next time to see separated treads laying on the sides of the highway, look closely, 1/2 of them are usually rig tires, 1/2 are passenger car tires. It's easy to see the difference if you compare the tread patterns and sizes from a distance.

Just check your air pressure and take it easy the first 500-1000 miles to make sure your set is good to go.

Long post, my fingers hurt.

Welcome to Yotatech! Thanks for the great post. I have been thinking hard about trying a set of these. With the way the economy is Treadwright might be getting more business.

I was planning on getting a set of these until I found a smokin deal on 5 pro comp mud terrains. Got all for $75. Three were probably 80-90% tread left, and the other two were cupped pretty bad with about the same amt. of tread down to 30-40% where they were cupped. I just had to brag a bit.

Next set I'll be getting is going to be some of these. Gonna be a while cause I not only have to wear my pro comps out, I also have to wear my 29" bfg a/t's out. still have about 70% left on those.

They won't come apart. The first wheeling trip I did I drove about 2 1/2 hours to get to the run, aired them down to 10-15lbs and ran them for a weekend. The last night of the run I drank a little too much and overslept so in my haste to get back home and my foggy state of mind that morning I forgot to air them back up. I ran 2 1/2 hours back home on tires with 10-15lbs of air in them and didn't notice until I got out at the house. If they were going to fly apart they would have on that trip.

I haven't worn out the tires I have so no I haven't tried the Ultra Grip's yet. Heck I'll probably have these tires on this time next year if they keep refusing to wear out like they have been.

I ended up with the OTR after reading these posts. I only wheeled my runner twice before selling it but they did awesome off-road. I aired down to about 15 psi and they performed fairly well on the rocks. What I was most impressed with was how they handled in mud and slick off road trails. Cleared mud well and did great diggn into anything else that was in its way. My friend went and bought some as well and I think they are wearing a little quicker than I expected them to but they are an off-road tire. They now call them the Howler and they were half as loud as the Goodyear MTRs and my Wild Country's. So not a Howler at all.

I'm very impressed with the company as a whole...great shipping times and answer questions by phone or e-mail. When do you ever get an e-mail back when you comment in the Contact us e-mail.

I just ordered some 285/75/16 ATs for my F-250...hopeing to have another good experience. Also I told the company they needed some different sizes esp for the TOY crowd. He replied with what would be the most common that they don't offer that people wanted and I said I was going to be looking for and threw out the 255/85/15 or some 33x10.5x15 as most of their tire choices are for 16" tires. It would also be nice if they had some 305/75/16's available for the LC crowd.
