What kills most class 8 retreads is improper maintenance, IE: low air pressure. Modern retreads are safe, I am looking at the MT/R's.

I really like their MT/R clones but am a little worried about putting retreads on my rig. I'm pretty sure you'd have to be very careful airing them down.

Do these M/T's have to get siped, or are they good for street driving without any additional labor?

I put on a set of the MT/R's in a 31X10.50 about 1500 miles ago and I LOVE them!!!! Yeah they are on the loud side but I kinda dig that. I've had them in the mud a few times now and they clear really well. Haven't had a need to air them down at all yet but from the look of the tread they will do fine. I'm looking forward to winter to see how they do in the snow. (and no i didn't get the ultra I's with the "green diamonds") As long as I drive 4X4's and as long as these continue to hold up as well as they have I will never buy another brand. period.

Siping voids treadwright's warranty.

Anyone know what the difference is between the MTG and the MTG-UT's?

They have the same photo up there for both. I'm wondering if its the compound, or some other component.

I love the internet for the wealth of information but I hate it at times for the amount of disinformation, such as this. Tractor trailer tires are recapped and the process is not as in depth as retreads. But the reason their tires shred at times is due to over/under inflation causing heat related failure on the duals. Not to mention you are talking about a load that is IMMENSELY greater than anything we put on a Toyota.

Thousands of offroad enthusiasts have been running Treadwright tires, airing them down, beating on them and running down the highway with no problems at all. Their failure rate is actually no worse than a brand new tire. Don't think so? Prove me wrong.

Personally I've ran Goodyear MTR in 31x10.50 on a 4runner, same rims I used to mount the Treadwright knockoff of the MTR, same size. They balanced better and were a fraction of the cost. I'll never buy another tire.

So I am looking to replace tires and I love the tread of the "Green Diamond" someone posted earlier. Looking all over Treadwright's website I cannot find them? Are they listed under another name? Can someone link me to them?

Thanks, I will be purchasing these. Thank you OP very much!

Time to bring this thread back to life. For those of you that have Treadwrights, how are they holding up and how is snow/ice performance? Thanks.

I think I have around 8000 miles on mine and they still look great, almost no loss of tread. I did some snow wheeling a few weeks ago and got stopped at the bottom of a little icy hill, in my defence the guy that went up before me couldn't get back up once he came down to help me get unstuck. On an iced over road I was all over the place (I need to point out here that I have a rear locker) until I put it in 4x and then things were smooth.

All in all I'd have to say that these are great tires, now if they only made a 33/10.50/15............

My biggest concern is driving on the interstate. Has anyone driven these tires on the interstate with any problems? I have about a 3 hour drive and am worried about the TW heating up and separating. Any feedback?

Junkers88, did your tires come with "Ultragrip II"? I really want to find out whether the UG- II (or UG- I for that matter) helps much on ice.

Bump! I just looked at these too, very impressed, though Discounttiredirect.com has a great deal on the Geolanders, 31x10.50-15 for $125 with free shipping though I could get a set of these for $200 less.... very very tempting!!!!
