Question Tread wear

Do the front or the rear tires usually wear quicker on the 4Runners?

I am thinkin the front, due to the engine/diff weight, also steering and braking.

Anyone know for sure?

Usually a little more wear up front. Front tend to wear on the inner/outer edges while the rears wear more evenly across the tread, so rotating frequently keeps the wear even.

Speaking of rotating.. I usually do my own, the manual I have for my 4Runner just shows a swap of front to rear, same side.

I was thinking of doing 'A' in the image below (borrowed from tirerack.com). It seems to move all the tires around the vehicle nicely. What do you do?

That works fine, depending on the tire. Some tires are directional and can only be run on one side or on the same side. Others are fine swapping from side to side.

As far as I know BFG MT KM2 is a non-directional tire?

I always rotate like diagram A, every 2000-2500 miles. Especially if you're going with an aggressive mud tire, you want to rotate MUCH more frequently than with a normal street tire, as they tend to start to wear a lot more quickly due to tread design, a softer compound, etc.

Tires do also tend to wear more on the front due to geometrical design. This is what camber and toe affect directly is the contact patch, and the wear pattern on the tires themselves. Your rear tires are on a solid axle that knows nothing other than forward. There is no camber, toe, or caster. IT is what it is, and if you have messed up camber or toe in the rear end of a solid axle truck, you got way bigger problems than tire wear

I don't believe the KM2's are directional. Most mud tires aren't (though there are some that are). IF they're directional they will say on the side of the tire "rotation" or "direction" or something of the sort with an arrow that should be pointing towards the front of the car.
