Not that much, but then on the other hand you drive a 95 runner (so do I) and you really don't have that much milage to give up any.

I don't think you will notice the difference. An average of 13mpg is really bad. The 3.0 normally gets 17mpg and the 22re should average 19-20mpg. You may want to look over your efi system.

Here is a thread to read https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...thread-137873/
Here is a link to the trouble shooting guide for the 3vz http://ncttora.com/fsm/1990-1995_4Rn...e/troubles.pdf this has lots of things you can check.

I would start with a tune up using NGK plugs, wires, etc. Toyotas seem to run better on these compared to other plugs and is recommended in the FSM http://ncttora.com/fsm/1990-1995_4Rn...e/services.pdf

Then get a denso o2 sensor, the one that you have is probably dead and the aftermarket ones do not have good reviews. Denso is what toyota used you can get them cheaper at http://www.sparkplugs.com compared to the dealership.

Other things that are common are low tire pressure and a heavy foot when the light turns green

well before i bought it it was checked over by two shops and everything was good. already did i tune up when i got it, plugs wires distributor cap and rotor and fuel filter.

it passed smog with flying colors so that rules our the o2 sensor.. as well as no check engine light.

also i dont think that it is very smart recommeding repairs to a persons car when you know nothing about it... how would you know that the o2 sensor is shot... not cool man.

thanks for the help but its impossible to trouble shoot over the internet, and as far as just guessing and putting an expensive brand new o2 sensor in the car on a whim... well that is not very smart!

i dont want to seem ungrateful, because i do appreciate the help... maybe instead of telling someone to start replacing parts you could say something like: "i would start by checking the oxygen sensor"

thankyou

im sure i sounded like a major jackass there, but that kinda stuff just really gets to me ya know...

if you told someone else who knew nothing at all aoubt their truck to go get an o2 sensor b/c they had poor gas mileage and they did, and it didnt help b/c it really wasnt bad, they are out a whole bunch of money and still need to spend more fixing the trouble that wasnt fixed...

i really didnt meen to be offensive, especially to the only guy who was offering me advice, but we cant fix things unless we know beyond a reasonable doubt that it is broken...

thankyou again for all of your help, links and reccomendations, and once again i didnt mean to seem like the duche i sounded like... lol i think all that made sense.

I dont think he is trying to be rude about it, but when your new to the site and ask questions that have been ask over and over, you just kind of put out there the different things that it could be. That being said, if you want and exact answer about a problem your not able to chase down, thats what you pay a mechanic for, how ever when you ask advice on a web site with people who have delt with these problems or have extremely helpful knowldge about and issue they seem to be right the majority of the time and it does not cost you $65 per hour. whorkz is def on the right track and its not him saying you need to replace these things, it him guessing about information that was not provided in the original post, but good luck with the fix and let us know what you come up with and welcome to y/t

Well that was the first response in that category that I have received.

In the FSM it will tell you how to test your O2 sensor. It will pass smog with an O2 sensor that is not working properly. I have also had one that passed the FSM test and was still causing bad mileage. I have never got a engine light for an O2 sensor unless the wiring was bad or it was unplugged. Toyota recommend replacing it at 80,000 miles, not sure how long yours has been in there.
......but anyways hope it all works out for you.
