Problems with Pro Comp 1069's on 3rd gen 4Runner
I have a set of new 16x8" (4"BS) ProComp 1069 wheels. They are 1069-6883 model number (non hub-centric) and I was told those were the ones I needed to get for my Toyota.
Having issues on fitment at tire shop.
The wheels fit just fine, (there is room to spare on the wheel center hub bore) but the center caps will not clear the front hub. The tire shop guy I spoke to on the phone says they are not wide enough bore to slip over the hub.
I double checked what I ordered with 4 Wheel Performance Parts in Edmonton and I was told I was given the right stuff.
Wondering if it is possible that there are different styles of center caps and I somehow got the wrong ones?
Do all the YT people run theirs without the center caps? I honestly can't remember but it doesn't seem right to me. Or do you all run a different kind of cap?
Anyone with pictures of their trucks with Pro Comp alloys, please post up or help me out on what I need to complete this fun little adventure. Thanks in advance.
(Figured out what lug nuts I needed thanks to a fellow YT member, thanks again!)
I'm quickly running out of ideas on what the fix to this ought to be. Can't find any contact information for ProComp to ask them, either.
Please help!

Nobody has a set of Pro Comps?
Finally got contact phone number for Pro Comp and gave them a shout. They said that the Yotas are typically a tight fit with the center caps over the hubs and that if there was substantial dirt, grime, rust, etc on hub, that it might prevent the hub from slipping over.
I dunno.....
Gonna pull the wheel off in a bit and see what's up.
Still would welcome others experiences with any wheel fitment issues like this that might help me out. Thanks

Well, if the Pro Comp guy hadn't told me to persist with this, I probably would have wondered too.
The covers just barely did not fit over the front hubs at first, but with a little bit of flattening the stamped edge (at the raised part) and a good whack with a hammer (I took the plastic part off the hub cover and covered the edges up with a 2x4 first) it finally slipped on.
Yikes!
Not what I would call quality design with THAT kind of fit.
I sure like the wheels though. They seem pretty light when I picked them up. Will post pics when I get this all together.

So sorry for the long delay on the pics....
Working 12 hour shifts with nearly an hour travel to / from work doesn't give me much time to get things done.
Enough excuses on my part and here's the pictures finally!

Tires are Hankook Dynamic Radial 275/70R16 and I have discovered a little bit of rubbing from the bolt head that the Limited flare attaches with at bottom of wheel opening. Not sure how to fix it other than a lower profile fastener or a bit of lift.
Still have not gotten around to installing the '99 suspension on her yet.

nice pics thanks -I like that swiss cheese look of wheel
Get that lift on with the 99 equipment and let's see how ya like it.
Hope you got the talls for 99-I had the shorts and have since gone to Old Man Emu. I still encounter rubbing of the front mudflaps at 3/4 turn or compression-but I notice you don't need em with your LTDs fenderflares.
Thanks again for the photos-and I see 4WD parts has them on sale drool drool and a Runner with SuperCharger in the Off Road Adventures magazine! dang we must be moving up.....

Yup, got the tall '99s. Still had the colored dots on them to prove it.
Hoping to get them on early next spring.
Seems like a long ways away, but I worked about 70 days of overtime this year, have had hardly any time for projects and have other pressing things to get done like cruise control on the motorcycle, and getting my rad swap and supercharger install finished on my project truck ('93 GMC sport truck.)
Oh, and the wife wants me to paint the whole house and develop the basement.
If I live another 100 years, I might some day see the end of my "to do" list, ha ha!
