Foil Packs?

This is pretty popular, but check it out. All you have to do is chop up assorted meats and vegetables and lay them out for your crew along with some spices, olive oil and of course garlic. Take a big piece of foil and double or triple it up but leave yourself about 12-16"s of surface area to work with. Load in any combination of meat and vegetables, spices, a dash of olive oil, and all the garlic you can stand. Seal the foil up good and tight and throw it in the bottom of your fire pit. I usually make a little bed of coals off to one side to make it easy. Takes about 15 min to cook through depending on size of pack.

Tips: Cut things like potatoes small enough to cook in that short time, and cut things like onions big enough so they don't get soggy and overcooked. Precut and vacuum seal everything. Buy the super wide, heavy duty foil.

I think my pops was a scout, so we did it as far back as can remember. Got all the scout knowledge from him without having hang out with a bunch retards and go to meetings.

X Eagle Scout here too.
But in the early years of Scouts and also at the YMCA/YWCA (coed) overnight camping trips, we did the same.

I believe we put in a huge patty of hamburger meat and put the vegis around it.
It really does taste good that way.
Well, just about anything you cook when camping tastes better when you are in the great outdoors
