I bought a 72 swb C10. Right now it looks like I need to sell the toyota and possibly one of my blazers. I have more toys than I do room. My 71 blazer is one of 1100 factory 2wd so I really want to do it right when I restore it but that cant be done in my driveway the way the rest of mine have been built. It will be hard to sell the yota since I have so much time and money in it but stuff happens.

I have that problem alot. THe fun for me is building them. Once they are built they getting boring to me. I hav close to $80k worth of trucks sitting in my parents yard but I only drive one of them on a normal basis. This one is close to done now its time to move on. Hopefully someone will buy it they will use it to all of its potential. This one turned out better than I would have ever expected and I would not be afriad to use it as a daily driver.

god man. i gotta tell you. you built a runner exactly like i originally planned to do....i would offer you a deal right now if i wasn't broke and in college.....i kinda feel like its my dream 4runner

i appreciate that. i think i'd rather do a dana SAS with a pickup though, so i could backhalf it real easily. so, hopefully the runner will be going long travel this fall!!! and then a 4.0 engine swap.

Took it for its test run yesterday. Everything worked better than I expected. The lockers take a lot of fun out of it but they worked great. I never had to use 4wd but I did once or twice just to see what it would do.

Little update. I got the tach working today. I used a dakota digital tach interface to get them working. Now all of the gauges except for teh oil pressure are now working. It never worked with the stock motor so I didnt expect it to now. The only thing left to do is a few cosmetic things (wet okole seat covers, possibly a new hood, paint and clean up some stuff)

My dad and I put a 94 LT1 in my 88 4Runner. Absolutely love the thing, the axles will hold up just fine, no problem there, the problem I ran into though was that the engine made too much torque and ripped the teeth off of 1st gear. And that was a brand new W56 tranny.
So if it were me, I would stay far away from the stock Toy transmissions and go with a tranny such as the 700-R-4.

Nice work, blazerboy72.
Question: I'm building something similar at the moment (Dana 44 spring over SAS and a V8) and I really don't want it to be as tall as your 4-Runner. Is there a way to shave some lift off of the front end?

Sorry it took so long to reply but the conversion isnt all that difficult. You just have to put it where you want it and make the brackets. I would like to do another one and keep it stock height with ifs just for the fun of it. To keep it lower I would leave the body lift off next time.

just found this thread and kicking around the idea of rebuilding my LS2 and dropping it in my yota. Will the stock 5spd tranny hold the LS2 with just a different bellhousing? Not looking to race the crawler, i have a vehicle for that, just looking to turn my 37's easier and I have a lot of LS2 pieces in my garage already.
