The front and rear axle havent been determined yet. It will eithet be a wagoneer 44 front with isuzu 44 rear, narrowed 10bolt front and rear or a narrowed 44hd front/ 14 bolt rear. I prefer the 44hd/14bolt so I can run my collection of 8 lug tires and wheels (38.5,40, and 42s)

yeah but how many supra motors are there compared to taco v6's, yes i know you can get tons of power out of them, but top end hp isnt everything, im not giving 2jz a bad rep or anything, budget wise the v6 or v8's are more practical for bolting up to different transmissions etc.

I am using a chevrolet because thats what I know. Im sure a toyota into a toyota would be easier but I have 8 chevrolets and 1 toyota. I think a 5.3 should have engough power to turn 35's-37's prety easily and are becoming relatively cheap. I would love to have a lt5 but those are very hard to find and cost more than i make in a year when you do find one.

i wouldnt run the 203, they are heavy and only have a 2:1, you should be able to bolt a 208 to the th350 27 spline for a much lower range

It is a special edition, limited production model out of the ZR-1 Corvettes made from about 90-94 iirc. Insanely high power and very light..

your 4runner comes stock with at least 4.10s, check the code at the back of the engine bay or on the door jam. There are tons of websites that will decode the numbers and give your ratio. However if you find out you have the 4.88s stock, you have to get a new carrier because they came with a special carrier that cannot accept any other ring and pinion.

That was the problem. I have 4.88's. Now it looks like i will be using the blazer axles, depending on what gear ratio the have.

I picked up the engine yesterday. It is a 04 5.3. After trying to test fit this I am wondering what in the world I was thinking. The engine without a fan is 28.5" and from the radiator to the firewall is 29".

Engine is in. Who needs a hood anyway? I had to remove the flywheel, exhaust, ac, and the front axle to get it in that far. Now I need to make some different motor mount to help lower it down a little bit more.

I know you've already got axles apparently, but have you considered using a 12-bolt isuzu rear? Dirt cheap, drop out 3rd and about as strong as a D60...just a thought. Gearing is limited though, but you should be able to get at least 4.10's, 4.30's, possibly 4.77s and def. 5.38's Not sure what else.

It's a little late now- but as much of a die-hard bowtie fan as I am- if I were to go w/ a V8 I'd probably use a 302 mainly b/c you'll probably run into firewall/distributor issues. Do you have a body lift? It may help some, but then again I have no idea of a swap like this.

Regardless, Im tagging this thread!

Good Luck!

The ls1's dont have distributors so I am good there. Currently I dont have a body lift but I may have to run one just for transmission clearance. I was/am plaaning on using the axles out of the blazer, but I am considering selling the blazer and gettinga th350/np205 instead of the th400/208. If I sell the blazer I will use an isuzu rear and wagoneer front.
