I now have 15,000 miles on my OM617 swap. I also finally got my '06 LBZ duramax down in El Reno, OK. If the weather holds up this month, I will be putting in my power steering, my intercooler, and fixing little odds and ends so I can be completely ready for Easter Jeep Safari.

On another note:

DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS WITH DAVEZ OFF ROAD!!!

I can personally say that his lies and failure to get me my new drive shaft on time ultimately led to me having to ride my motorcycle back home in August, resulting in my near death. That business is the most worthless business I have ever done a transaction with. He is hard to get a hold of, repeatedly lies about when items will ship out, and he even screwed up the length of my custom drive shaft and made me pay to send it back to him!! He hides behind excuses and will simply not stand accountable for his actions. If he didn't live half way across the U.S., I'd throw my motorcycle through his front door.

SPREAD THE WORD! IT'S WORTH SAVING SOMEONE ELSE THE TROUBLE THAT I WENT THROUGH BUT COULD HAVE AVOIDED HAD I KNOWN HOW TERRIBLE THEY ARE

Got my Subaru WRX intercooler on this weekend. It. Is. AMAZING!! Once I get the leaks found and fixed, it'll be even better. But for right now, my egt's haven't gotten over 1000 where they used to easily go past 1200 degrees F. When I stop driving, my egt's used to be about 450; now they're never over 400. Turbo lag is noticeable, but the power rush that comes with the spool up is amazing. The water temp is also running cooler down. I hate welding aluminum, and I'm not sure if my welds are air tight. I could really use an older NA intake manifold to make things fit better. Haven't burned a tank of fuel yet, but economy looks to be much improved.

Just read the whole thread and truck looks sick. I know you said a whole back that you wouldn't do this swap again. Is this still your feeling after having time to adjust and mess with it.

Oh and the leaky knuckles defiantly seem like inner axle seals. When you built them did you replace them. I just rebuilt mine front and rear and is nice not seeing oil dripping. Also do the wheel bearing and knuckle bearings. Figured why it was apart might as well.

Ridda- Yes, I put a new "pre-pre" filter on the frame during the motor swap. Thanks for reminding me lol, I would've forgotten all about that one next time I change filters.

Taco, yes, I even shelled out $25 to get me Trail-Gears stupid "premium" seals, and they still went out. I will probably just replace them with the ones that came with my SAS kit.

Also, Taco, I don't know what I would do. I would never go back to gas, but I would like to find a much better engine that makes twice the power, gets 30 mpg, and costs nothing to work on. 20 years from now when these brand new diesels are in the junk yards, I will probably put one of those in. Although, this engine is a great off-road engine, with it's high rev's. A diesel that only rev's to 2200 RPM is not very good for speeding thru things off-road; you need that wheel speed to clean you tires out.

So are you saying it is good for offroad or not becuse it doesn't rev too high. Or this diesel does rev high and others don't?

It redlines at over 5000 RPM and doesn't make weird noises when getting up there like my 22R did, therefore, it is great.

Some will argue that the fact it doesn't make it's peak torque down low takes away from it's low RPM rock crawling ability, but if you gear right, like I did with a 4.7:1 low range and big axle gears, you will be fine. I went to Frostbite at Kansas Rocks 2 weeks ago and hardly had to use the throttle on any of the crawling I did. It was awesome for sure!! It just idled up the rocks!

Awesome. I've always liked diesels but also love the yotas. Great combo here. Possibly something ill tackle down the road.

Are you running 4.88 or 5.29? Can't remember.

2/3 of the way done getting my hydro assist on. It was 70 today, going to be 20 tomorrow. Just have to finish making my power steering pump bracket and figure out a final location for the PS fluid cooler and I'm done. I'll post up pics as soon as everything is working.

Power steering with Hydro Assist

Here is most of my efforts for my power steering, and everything for my hood scoop.

Used a gift certificate I won at Kansas Krawl to get the front of my trailer Line-X'd to prevent the front guard from getting sand blasted all the way thru like so many trailers I've seen.

Steering brace welded on. I didn't move the box AT ALL. I don't know how I would even move it. The drag link sits with about 1/8" to 1/4" clearance on all sides at maximum droop/stuff.

Cut out the inside brace and welded a piece of the supplied DOM to the brace and to the top stock IFS mount so the box is clamping the DOM and not the frame.

My custom, partially CNC plasma cut bracket. My plan will be to model this up on CAD and have the entire thing laser cut and cnc bent. Then you can just buy them. It is for the Trail Gear power steering pump.

Well an opportunity arose this weekend; either God gave me a sign, or my guardian angle really wanted to ride in a deuce and a half. I've driven past this place with a whole bunch of army trucks for the past 5 years on the way home and finally stopped last Thursday. I decided to save my Easter Jeep Safari trip money and invest in something else. I am now the proud owner of a 1969 Kaiser-Jeep M35A2 multi-fuel 6x6. I also finished the Toyota steering column/power steering swap, and words can't fathom how awesome it is! Unfortunately, after a weekend in the 80's, it dropped into the 20's and began to blizzard on Sunday before I could really test drive it.
