22re to 7mgte in a 94 2wd swap

ok well i have been planning this swap for a long time now. i have a forged bottom end eagle rods JE pistons and only 10,000 miles on this block. head is ported polished and cleaned over sized valves with JDM TRD big lope turbo cams, t4 greddy intake manifold, t4 greddy turbo manifold, t4 66mm turbo with 57 trim spool(might get the 60:1 trim not sure yet), 2.5" intercooler piping and spearco big intercooler front mount, 40mm HKS wastgate, 1000cc injectors, AEM standalone ECU. AEM wide band O2 sensor, AEM boost controller, R154 tranns with 6 puck clutch and lightened unsprung pressure plate. all ARP head studs rod bolts and bearing bolts with clevite crank bearings.

ill be looking for a little over 550hp at 12psi boost. until i can get it dynoed and tuned

as the truck sits right now i have its mostly stock except exhaust and intake, 22re 160k original miles 150 trans stock original. standard cab short bed stock wheels.

my intentions for this truck are going to be a sleeper drag truck and then sometime next year ill be putting Total Chaos long travel race kit on it and it'll remain my daily driver and weekend play toy.

ill update as much as possible but i only have internet at work right now so it my be slow going as far as updates go. my motor should be all ready to swap in a week and then my goal is to have the swap done in a 10 days. wish me luck.

hopefully i can document this really well because there are a ton of 4x4 swaps but even SupraTrucks doesn't go thru the swap in very much detail for a 2wd. i might have to do a small body lift to clear the pan from the steering dampener, i have a feeling i m going to need that dampener.

Do you think that little 7.5" rear axle is going to stand up to 550hp?

For a bolt-in, you'll need 5m mounts, 22re rubbers, and a cressida pan/pump/relocated dipstick would allow the pan to clear the front diff with no mods...

Cant wait to see pics, i want to put the 7gme in my yota and get rid of the nutless 3vze it has in it. I havent been able to find much on this swap is there something i am missing?I see everyone is leaning towards the 5vze but the 7gme is cheaper, dohc straight six so in my eyes has more potential for horsepower(even though it is about the same power stock),and most of all its cheaper!

Mines 2wd so Im just trying to clear the steering arm. I thought the 7m and 5m mounts were the same.

Update: got the forged short block and donor car all staged and ready. I ll take some pics and post em tomorrow. After the swap is complete ill part the car out and ill have an extra bottom end.

5m mounts use the next set of holes back on the block and drop the motor right on the 4x4 frame mounts; not sure about how the 2wd frame mounts and the 7m/5m hardware would work, as we are going front sump to clear the diff. The supra sump may work perfectly, but I have no experience with 2wd ones. The owner of toyotafiberglass.com has a gte in his 2wd, so you could track him down on here and PM him...

motorhead thanks for the help i got ahold of slacker and he helped me out. also the guy that runs supratrucks.com is awesome he got back to me in like 20 min. he has a pretty good site too. your right 5m mounts are the only ones that bolt. they are just hard to find so once i get those its on. oh and my 22re is probably going to blow a head gasket here soon.

sorry its taking so long the boss rides horses so i ve been doing the supportive boyfriend thing. should be on it like crazy here in a week or so.

sounds like a cool build .. I'm not done mine , heck , I have really only "scrached the surface" .. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f115...t-2wds-114961/

I had to kick it out of my shop to build the trekker https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f197...thread-131775/

Trekker is almost done .. so I will be starting the 2WD again next summer

I look forward to your progress
