1uz swap in the works.
****UPDATE****
HEY GUYS!
i have some updated engine shots taken today i have driven this thing almost every day since the swap was finished, i have done some repairs in this duration: got a fuel trim code(valve adjust) yah think after 560k miles its about time... had to put some new knock sensors in(came out of a rx300) work perfectly. a couple new primary o2's from denso(not cheap.. ouch..) other than a couple wiring repairs its been nothing but reliable.
average fuel economy city 17-19mpg, highway 15-17mpg...
there is a project in the works for a remote mounted turbo.. yeah i know i am crazy but you only live once..

well i decided to start a thread for my swap to help get my feet moving faster... i have a 90 sr5 runner v6 auto with 240k on the clock.
when i got it about 6 months ago i did the t-belt, wp, valve cover gaskets, and yada yada this and that to help it run smoother. well it still has a slight misfire witch i am pretty darn sure now is a burned valve.
aside from that the runner is pretty much a stock machine with the rust mod to the body. the plan is a 1uz swap wile keeping it an auto, the wife drives it the most and its nice to just drive and not be shifting all the time.
so the donor car is a 90 ls400 with 560k miles! wow it start and runs and will do the job for the swap, plus i am getting the car for 250 bucks....
why this car? well the price is right even if i only use the harness and ecu, but the motor runs and its all complete, surprising enough you can get a 1uz with around 80-100k on it for 400 bucks at the local wrecking yards...
so the plan complete the swap drive it till the motor goes and just mosie on down and get a new motor.......
okay so some history on me. i have a few years of fab, welding and building all sorts of stuff from farm equipment and um well lots of lol. i have done all types of welding OC-TIG-ARC-MIG and i am good at it..
i have done swaps ie. honda swaps(easy) to jdm turbo 2 rx7 swap(medium)
lots and lots of wiring with the sevens. and well i am a repair tech for acura
i fix cars all day long
the goal: running motor with auto trans working factory gauges.
there is a local shop here in town (SL,UT) that does lots of cnc work, they may provide me with a plate or such for the bell housing t-case or so, we'll see once i get there.
pics will be up soon and please feel free to leave input

Good luck man ill Will be following , dont forget the camera .. Take lots of pics. Your lucky to be doing this in a 2nd gen , can use the gauges from 92-94 4cyl electronic speedometer and and have all your gauges working factory .
Im still trying to hunt down this super special speedometer gear that is supposed to be both electronic and mechanical from one of the FJ's to get the stock first gen cluster to work, instead of having to make a custom one.like i had to do.
and I hear you about these motors being super cheap , the one i used had 297,000 miles and all i did was change the oil and plugs, (now doing a valve adjustment), didnt bother with any more than that am gonna just get another motor when this one goes.
actually just picked another 1992 ls400 ,that was wrecked and missing some parts but still running fine, for $125..
anyway good luck man ...

well got some pics fer ya
this is goldie (wifes nick name) has some rust (ooo like what early 90's utah car doesn't)
this may look odd to to some see what you can spot that is missing...
here's the ls400 pretty clean car actualy, owner took some parts off it to fix his other car
and the 1uz, motors clean been serviced regularly, t-belt was just done 20k ago
and it had 1k left on the lube sticker from the dealer and the oil still looks new.
can't wait too tear it out.. o and if people need parts off this car(besides what i need) the inside is pretty clean just shoot me a pm.

o yeah forgot... picked up a v6 5speed and t-case today (r150f topshift booyah!), 150 bones... so invested so far:
250$-car
65$- tow
150$- trans/tcase
465$ and counting, lets see if i can keep it under 1,500, if so this will be much cheaper than the 5vzfe swap but its just the begining... muahaha

got this pulled today... wasn't as bad as i thought it would be..
would like to pull the runner to the car wash and pressure was the F out of under the hood...
i had it at work the other day and degreased it pretty good, so the removal process would be clean...
splitting it up and throwing the engine up on the classified adds tomorrow to help take the dent outta my pocket..

thanks!.. well its been coming along very slow for the past few weeks.. havin a new baby makes projects a little difficult... debating weather or not i should just send my harness to phoenix tunning..
after tearing down my auto tranz out of the runner i decided to junk it. the new plan is to use the Lexus tranz in 2wd form until i get more funds for the prerunner kit from inchworm.
