yeah no go, like i thought. there is deff a clip in there holding the tail shaft. the hammer was a realy bad idea, the main reason is that inside the trans are brass shims, like a bearing on a rod, these are there to keep clearance and act as a bearing at the same time, you could have damaged some of them in the process of angry hamering.
maybe enven damaged the case.

I had heard from the inchworm guy that sometimes on the Lexus tranny the output splines have to be sanded down a bit to fit the coupler on. I don't recall having to do this on mine though.

I think birdduck is correct. You broke the output retainer clip. Look on Ebay for a factory service manual for an A340 series tranny. I had one for the Lexus a340e but I loaned it out and never got it back. I'm afraid of them too but I'll take apart anything if there is a detailed manual on how to do it.

I'd take it apart. At this point what do you have to lose? Look for Cebby's thread. Its old and he hasn't done anything for a long time on his swap but he did have some detailed info on tranny disassembly. Good luck!

you can use some from the other plugs, some of the wires your not using just unpin it from the plug and put it that there e11 plug..just make sure you leave plenty of wire after the pin so you can solder it together.. i have quite a few extras from mine so i a sure you will too.

sorry guys. no progress lately. been too hot to do anything. 100+ degrees outside and 60% humidity. you can't stay outside more then thirty minutes til you're exhausted.

105* today... I went outside to tinker on the 4Runner after dark, it was still too hot. I've got a lot to do to that damn thing, but I just can't work in that heat, it'll kill you.

I can't believe an impact didn't have the torque to break the stud.

Kind of depends on if you care about the Tundra block. If you don't, get a 1/2 ratchet and about a 3 foot piece of pipe. It will either break loose or break the stud. Either way it comes off.

If you do care about the block try and heat the nut with a propane torch first.

get some pb blaster, spray all the bolts on the head and on the flanges... let it soak for a few hours, then go drive your tundra around for about 15-20 minuts.. this will allow the metal to get hot and the pb to penetrate the bolts, then try your impact again.
and if that doesn't work call cuck norris to come break them loose...

oh and also forgot. I'm having issues gettin the radiator to fit, so i'm thinkin i may do what someone else(can't remember who?) did and cut the front cross brace and put in some angle iron as support. that way, i can push the radiator forward an inch or 1.5 inches. I'll also be fixing my transmission problem this weekend( I HOPE!).

you can spray the pb on it when its hot thats fine, just don't spray it into an open flame..
no you can eat dw40 if you wanted to.. pb blaster will melt a styrafoam cup...(i don't recomend eating wd40) PB is some knraly stuff don't get it in your eyes!

i am trying to use the factory rad in the factory spot, i have plenty of clearance to do so
but i am going to have to modify the radiator inlet to get the hose to clear the passenger
cam/dizzy cover.
