what is this connector for?
attempting to get my swap ready to start and i have a connector that as far as i can tell, i will not be using any wires from. it is the small gray connector in the pic below. i think it has some of the functions of the evap system and the check engine light, both of which i will not be hooking up.

is there anything in there that i actually need for the truck to run?

That was II1 for my '96 auto 4Runner donor, but wasn't needed for my '91 manual recipient; that's the theory at least, I'm still a ways away from turning the key. That connector housed a lot of the auto wires and the ABS and cruise control wires, but on my '91 all the ABS and cruise wires "lived" entirely within body harnesses, there was no interaction with the 3.0 engine harness.

Of course, different years and models called connectors different names and probably moved wires around, check your EWD, it'll be in the "power source/electrical wiring routing/connecto.pdf"

Quick silver is correct. All pins in that connector II1 were for the ECT system. I didn't use it at all, and have the check engine and EVAP system. Just out of curiosity, why don't you want to hook up the check engine light?
