I've got one from a 99 tacoma.

 

Im pretty much sure this is going to end up being a 2001 cause the 2000 diagram doesn't have my same plug and the 2001 diagram does have my same plug. What do you think?

Is there a way to check the production date with a drivers door that wont open? By the vin or is it written somewhere else on the truck too?

 

haha i think you can by the vin.. but if you can pry open the door... the sticker will tell you

 

The previous owner had tried to pry it open for quite a while it looks like. I messed with it for a little bit but I just figured screw it. I think its going to have to be cut to get it to release so I just figured that I would leave it closed for the guy who is buying it so he wouldn't have to worry about strapping a door closed for towing it to his house. If I really need it I will be able to get it open though. It did have the old style exhaust though. Haha if that really matters. Didn't they change the exhausts for the 2001 year?

 

yes they did... you couldn't modify the newer style crossover... pull the driver fender and unbolt the hinges. should let the door unpinch enough to open the rest of the way.

 

Yeah and my crossover was the type I could modify. Good idea on the door hinges.

Sounds good. I haven't messed with the wiring too much yet. I have been busy getting the truck mechanically road ready with all the random little stuff the previous owner took off.

 

What is the purpose of the stop light switch being wired through the ECU on the tacoma engine? Is there a reason why I should plug it in?
Also why do 2 B-O wires go from the ecu to a fuse for the gauge lighting? Do those need to be plugged in to anything for any reason?
Then there is an input from the 3.4 cruise actuator to the ecu. That doesn't need to go anywhere right?
I've been driving the swapped 4runner around all week.
There isn't a single wiring diagram on TIS that matches up to my 2000 Tacoma. Logging onto it a second time was a waste. I ended up just taking my ohm meter and following and finding where every wire went the nice long tedious way. My wiring worked perfect though and I didn't get anything wrong but when I went to start it up it was doing the same thing the engine did in the Tacoma where it would crank and fire and right after it would start it would die. That took a couple hours to figure out but a wire inside the plug for the ignitor was broken that went to an injector. Got that all fixed and it fired right up.
I'm hoping to get the dash all buttoned up tomorrow but i have to wire up my e-locker first and figure out the reverse light. So if any of the above inputs need to be traced and hooked up please let me know cause I don't think they do so I'm not planning on messing with them.

 

Wow is the weather too nice out there with everybody getting ready for the 4th to get on yotatech? haha. I got my stop light switch and reverse switch wired up through my ecu last night. One of the B-O wires was just for switched power to the back up switch.
Here's what it looks like now. Going to throw some ball joint spacers on it tomorrow which will get rid of some but not all of the rake. I guess I should put engine pictures in this forum but I haven't taken any yet. haha
